Seb
Guys, my friend is trying to re-install Windows onto an old PC of mine so I can give it to a family friend, but the product key we have doesn't work. We don't want to get a dodgy one off the net as you can't run any of the Windows updates, so I was wondering if anyone has a PC with XP Pro and would be happy to let me have their product key. Obviously one time only, not going to be shared with friends or anything, just a bit deperate to get this sorted. Would really appreciate this, pm me if you can help, thanks! Pete
That's kinda the point of the Genuine Advantage campaign. People that have paid for the product generally aren't that keen to give it away to others. (Myself included) If you have a key off the net you can search for muBlinder.exe which will hide the notifications and enable updates. It will periodically be defeated by MS as they release new patches. It's much easier just to buy it. See if you can get someone to sell you an OEM version, at least it's much cheaper then. Seb
I appreciate what you're saying, thanks for the reply and the tip about muBlinder, didn't use it but at least I know it exists. All sorted anyway now and working fine.

Pete
Feck off if i don't know you but......HEY its you ok m8 i'll help you:D Yep - that's pretty much it - Except I'm not helping him anymore than I did when I thought it was someone I didn't know. I'm as equally helpful (or not) to everyone! Reminds me of the geezer ripping up the grass at JAE.

Seb
Hey - I just realised it's you Seb! (I wouldn't have been so unfriendly with my wording ) Hows the Aristo going dude? Lol, I thought you were being a bit harsh! Aristo is going ok mate, though is having some brake issues which have effectively stopped me from really driving it anywhere, which is annoying. Should hopefully have that all sorted towards the end of the month, and then *finally* go BPU with it.

silvershark44
Look on the back of your pc at work, there is usually a sticker with the pcs cd key on it. Probably only useful if your running xp pro though So a bit of a medium to long shot, but you wouldnt believe the number of cd keys that are just stuck to the back of pcs in offices. MrRalphMan
A lot of these have been discontinued by MS, mainly for companies with a blanket agreement.
