Lotus Cars is assembling the Tesla Roadster under contract to Tesla Motors. Tesla Motors has also hired Lotus Engineering for certain design and engineering tasks. The Tesla Roadster style was developed in Lotus Engineering's design studio - Lotus Engineering won a design contest where several design firms submitted proposals. Lotus Engineering supplied the initial chassis which was significantly modified by Tesla Motors engineers.

hmmm

I like it. Don't like the front-on look. Don't like the bonnet. Reminds me of another car, and I don't think I mean a Lotus. hmm. Anyway, side profile looks fabulous:

I'd have one. It's got two forward gears though. I wonder what 50 - 90mph acceleration would be like?

Goes very well apparently.

Not sure how many people will buy a sports car that doesn't sound like a sports car?

Also with no exhaust / intake / engine noise all the squeks and rattles will stand out a mile.

This is a real downer for me too! Instead of pressing the loud petal it'll be the silent pedal!

Although I love the idea of no emissions for all the cars on the road, surely this is a false economy - we're struggling to produce enough electricity in this country as it is, and we get it mainly from burning fossil fuels anyway :conf:

So you'd have to go home, plug it in and recharge it, which puts more strain on the national grid, causing them to burn more fuel which produces more emissions.

That said at least it's progress in the right direction, and the performance figures look good! :)
