OBDScan software for the Supra working?!

I just re-read the text and think I got the wrong end of the stick entirely.

In general, Asian, European and Chrysler vehicles are ISO-9141. The few exceptions are 1996-97 Toyota, most are VPW, 1996 ISUZU is VPW, all Toyota Supra's, even 1998 models, are VPW and 1998-Newer Chrysler 300's, Intrepid and Concord are VPW. All Ford, with very few exceptions, are PWM and all GM, with very few exceptions, are VPW.

What does VPW mean? I guess by this are they saying Supra isn't ISO-9141 which we already know so it's not going to work and I wish I hadn't even mentioned it.

I sent a message

I don't know what VPW means. I was hoping to use your system on a Toyota Supra 1997 VVTi model, can you confirm in plain English if it will work or not?

Just got a reply...

What OBDSCAN Unit did you have ? GM , Chrysler, Toyota use Interface call VPW, ISO-9141, and KWP-2000 Interfaces that talk to Vehicles. And Ford Vehicles use PWM Interface( from 96 to 2003), but from 2003 Ford started to use CAN Bus Interface for Ford F-250 and F350. And by 2005 to 2008 all Vehicles that sold in North America had changed to CAN Bus Interface. Now, Chrysler use VPW, KWP-2000, and

( CAN Bus Interfaces for Chrysler 300 Model ), and Toyota use VPW, ISO-9141, KWP-2000, and CAN Bus Interface for Toyota Lexus and PRIUS. That is why we have OBDSCAN + CAN Units, and this Unit will work for all Vehicles with an OBD II from 96 to 2007 and beyond.

So he's saying it will work?

I'll ask for confirmation again I think.

KWP-2000 is Key Word Protocol I think....

Can is + and - can wires in a twisted pair communicating every sensor & control system throught the two wires via a can bus system.

VPW??? Variable Pulse Width???
