Paul
Still shopping for tyres, phoned a local place tonight and he said that my 10 x 18" rears would look 'silly' with 275/35/18's as the tyre wouldn't sit right! He suggests 265's. But lots of you have 275's correct? do they sit OK on 10's? I've settled on 235/40/18's for the front (9 x 18). is this OK? Bloody minefield this tyre lark I think I've sussed it then I get a different opinion yet again. Thanks, Paul.
LeeT
i would say he doesnt know what hes talking about. i had 275's on a 9" wheel before and definetly didnt look silly. i think some on here run 295's on 10" rim so no problems.
dude
Ive got 295/35/18 on my rears and they sit just fine dude !!! Dude:flame Dev
Nick
I've got 275/35ZR18 on 10*18 and 245/40ZR18 on 9*18. They sit perfectly and give a near perfect match to the rolling radius of the original rims. 235 will be a bit narrow on the front, they'll sit fine but I'd rather have the 245's, depending on the tyre you might leave the rim exposed as opposed to the tyre on the outside... osso
I've also got 275/35ZR18 rears and 245/40ZR18 on the fronts, but no idea how big my wheels are in terms of widths probably a 9 and
Terminator
Stock rims are 9.5 and they take a 255 as standard, 265 fit feel and look fine on the stock rim. I have 275 35 18 on 10's and they are fine. May be he gets a bigger profit on the 265's:flame Dev

Hell yeah! I don't want more than 500bhp to be honest. Plus it'll be driven to events not trailered
jason m
275 35and 285 35are the recommended fitment on a 10" rear by dusty at mvp - your only concern is the offset of the wheels and whether the tyres will rub at all (I think). There was a link to a tyre size calculator posted on here a few weeks ago i think it is on mkiv.com.
Matt Harwood
The Lexus wheels are 8.5" fronts and 10" rear. The stock size for tyres is 245/40/18 and 275/35/18. I think he's probably got a set of 265's he wants to shift...
Paul
So, 275/35/18's for the rear it is Now I'm puzzled about the front, 235's or 245's ? I'm sure the bloke I got the wheels from had 245's up front (9 x 18) but said I'd be better off with 235's. Again, would 235's sit OK and not leave the wheel 'exposed' on the rim? Nick
I would definitely go for 245's. I have SO3's which have rim protectors on the tyre and they are only just in line with the rim. 245's will also give you more grip...
Paul
Will there be any issue with them touching the wheel arch liner or problems with full lock? (bear with me, bit stupid) So 245's at the front create no problems at all? Did seem odd that 235's are on my 17" stock, to then also put these on a 9x18 wheels? Nick
No problems at all with clearance, see pic below : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?s=&postid=205242 The link below gives some very good info. You need to select a tyre for the diameter and width of the new wheel which has the same rolling radius as the old one by choosing the correct width and aspect ratio. If you don't you can end up with all sorts of problems, clearance, tramlining, poor handling, inaccurate speedo etc. http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/tyre_bible.html
