terribleturner
I think it was JamieP who mentioned you replaced the alternator recently?? Could it be a dodgy regulator on it? No it was starter motor that was replaced. Alternator is fine. Sorry for thee hijack Matt
Ruff_Rider
How did you get on at GT-Art? Will be contacting them soon for a turbo upgrade shortly so feedback would be appreciated. Obviously they specialise in Skylines but how extensive is their knowledge of the Supra?

Obviously they specialise in Skylines but how extensive is their knowledge of the Supra? Probably best if I comment after I get the car back, but I'll soon let you know what I think - good or bad. They are doing an awful lot of work on a Uk TT (now single) owned by a nice chap called Robbie on this forum. Met him whilst I was there and we had quite a chat I'm sure he won't mind if you were to pm him His details are here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=568, quite some spec
Robbie
Hi Chris would you care to explain. This pic was taken early on by me and I dont know if anything else was done to the pump setup, so if you see a potentialy fatal problem I would be grateful for your observations. Chris Wilson
The stock connector pins aren't up to handling the current draw of dual pumps, the pins overheat and melt the connector, you don't want mad hot electrical connectors in the top of a fuel tank! Chris Wilson
I'd get a fuel proof bulkhead gland fitting and feed the pumps cables through it, and split the connection externally if you want a plug and socket arrangement.

You got any of these fuel proof bulkhead glands Chris? I have cable glands but dont think they are fuel proof
Chris Wilson
No, not sure where you would find them, but they do exist, Reynard F3 and F3000 cars used them.
LeeT
i used the existing ground wire to my stock pump as the new power feed to my second pump. I then fitted an earth post drilled and bolted through the top of the hanger assembly and grounded both pumps through this.
Steve
Thats a good idea. Thanks Lee

Steve
Where do you join the ground wire to, to get power to it?
Matt Harwood
I run an earth from the post I've fitted, tape it up with the exixting loom, and earth is to the chassis somewhere.
Steve
Do you tap the new power wire onto the existing power wire in the loom somewhere?
Matt Harwood
Best way to do it is to take a heavy supply from somewhere, (battery), and wire the power supply though a relay using the original fuel pump feed as the relays switch and the heavy supply to feed the pumps. Bear in mind that the use of two pumps is only really necessary on really big power cars. Both Ian C and I are still running single pumps with a T67. There is also an advantage to running one pump. If you're running one pump and it fails, the car stops. If you're running twin pumps and one fails at high boost, you may not notice until it's too late, and you could lose the engine! Robbie
Good info guys. Thanks a lot...I will find out exactly what was done in the end as my second pump is now controlled by the v-pro and might well have a second wire to power it
