Seb
Recent wet weather has been keeping the pollen down, but went to the park today with my girlfriend and my allergies just went apeshit - I've been sneezing like a bastard all day and can barely see for my stinging red eyes. Over the counter tablets have done f-all as usual, makes me wonder why I bothered buying four different kinds, they're all the same anyway. Don't think I can deal with the next few months, I'm off to cut my nose off.

Seb
Thanks guys. Might have to make a trip to the GP and see what he can do. My girlfriend was saying how a mutual friend of ours had it so bad she was taking steroids or something. Pretty hardcore stuff.
Bobbeh
Me too Seb, until this weekend I've been fine, this morning I woke up with a sore throat and itchy eyes (which have now gone) and I have a blocked up nose.. I hate summer in the UK When I went to Michigan for a month it went totally. I'm sure its all the Bastard crops they grow here.
Charlotte
I'm exactly the same, just this weekend! I woke up this morning with really itchy eyes and runny nose. I really thought i'd somehow missed it this year.
Kopite
My girlfriend was saying how a mutual friend of ours had it so bad she was taking steroids or something. That;s what i have to do, friggin hate hayfever!!! Eyes are still stinging now!!
Seb
I was hoping it had gone too, but I heard that this week it's all kicking off and the pollen count is going to be through the roof I used to be fine until I started working out in Kent, I guess the exposure to large amounts of pollen just started something in my system. Paul
I used to get it bad, couldn't go near cut grass but now I'm almost cured to the extent I can mow the lawn with no problems! The cure........ about 30 fags a day, since I started smoking years back it's buggered up this side of things I guess so no longer sensitive to pollen. Can't see you getting advised this by any doctor though:d
Seb
Smoking, eh? I'll put it on my 'maybe' list of possible solutions. But, you know, thanks...
Suprasteve
i was like that at the beginning of May, I remembered how much i hated summer last year because of it. I finally had enough and went to the doctors, they gave me some strong tablets called 'Mizollen 10mg' you take one a day. It took about a week to really start working but seems to have worked a treat. I still get a slight blocked nose/running nose but compared to how i have been suffering over the last few years these are great. good luck mate
Kranz
I've been sneezing like a bas**rd today too. Couldn't work out why. Must have been the pollen. The original Piriton (that make you really sleepy) are the best AFAIK.
Bobbeh
I say hurry up with the Genetically Modified crops, that way I can start enjoying my summers again!
Syed Shah
I have to agree with Paul - smoking does actually redude hayfever, but not the best way to do it! Personally, I find the meds work if you mix them as opposed to keeping to the same one all summer. That + larger doses (remeber most of them quote the same dose for a 12yr old as a 25yr old). All my own thoughts, not advice to anyone!
Bobbeh
Coffee too contains anti-hystermines (spelling?), so thats what I've been drinking today, Stella and Nescafe
Syed Shah
So the list thus far: 1. Smoke 2. Mix meds 3. Take more than the stated dose 4. Take caffeine 5. drink plenty of alcohol LOL this is great stuff!
Charlotte
The original Piriton (that make you really sleepy) are the best AFAIK. Yep definitely the best stuff. Why can't they make a non drowsy one?!

ivan
I've never had Hay Fever - until today. Seriously blocked up all morning and couldn't hear properly. Felt right out of it until later on in the day.
Guest mk47
oh olbas oil works a treat few drops on a hankerchief or on your pillow - helps you through the night and helps the nose in the morning.
Seb
1. Smoke 2. Mix meds 3. Take more than the stated dose 4. Take caffeine 5. drink plenty of alcohol 6. Eat ice cream 7. Olbas oil 8. Close windows 9. Stick things in arse Any more? I noticed that in Boots as well as the regular one-a-day and fast acting 15 minute tablets, they had some security packed, very expensive tablets, but the prices were pretty high so I didn't get any. Maybe that's got more clout.
Bobbeh
Also another tip.... dont leave windows open in your bedroom! as no doubt pollen grains are gonna get blown into your room and onto your bed sheets and you'll breath the bastards in (giving you a sore throat) or rub them into your eyes by accident.
