SuperSupra
I've never had a car fast enough to have to worry about having a spoiler on the wiper blades (before the Supra obviously), so never bothered, but now I've come to changing them, it suddenly dawned on me - does the wiper fix with the spoiler facing up, or down? Pete
I think facing down from your description? The air needs to ride over it and flatten it to the screen at speed.

Do most people not have the spoiler on the wiper then? I've noticed that at high speeds (70+) the wipers are virtually useless.

SuperSupra
having a spoiler on the wiper blades? sure what the hell does that mean, A little plastic strip on the blade that stops the wiper lifting from the windscreen at high speeds.

Matt H
If you got to Halfords, most of the wipers come with a spoiler for a little bit etc. I got a bosch set and they came with the spoiler as standard

Kranz
And at 150+ (300+ leptons) the wipers are about 1" above the screen.... but so's the rain at that speed

Getrag
Its actually ABOVE. Dont be tempted into viewing it like a front spoiler of a car. If you put it at the front, air will just rush under it at high speed and lift the wiper up. If its at the back, it acts like a rear upsidedown diffuser. dangerous brain
The wiper arms springs are well known for weakening over time and lift at speed. Spoiler cures it for a while but speak to toyota or nik the replacement arms are as cheap as chips.
SuperSupra
Cheers folks, got two different opinions as to whether it faces up, or down - so it seems it wasn't such a dumb ass question as i thought! Might look into getting new arms actually as mine are a tad scratched.

vvteye
Of course if you modify the truckers one with a six inch spoiler they stay glued to the screen up to 170+. Only trouble is you can't see a damn thing!
JODY T
Get PIA wiper blades.. you prep the windscreen, take out all the washer fluid and replace with 100% water (No Soap stuff) then turn wipers on fast for 5 mins with the screen dry, which coats the windscreen with slicon i believe.. Then the wipers are AMAZING, honestly. you can drive at 100+ without the wipers on and the water hits the screen, beads instantly and goes... honestly they are great but a bit pricey, Paid 60 bucks for the 3 on my Soop.. Youll only ever put them on the first speed..
chilli
I can recommend these http://www.piaa.co.uk/wipers/wipers.asp http://www.piaa.co.uk/wipers/wipershow.asp?model=Supra+II+3.0i+Turbo the super sporza ones with spoilers, work well and the silicone seems to work well at repelling and clearing water oh and the blades can be replaced individually once you have the carrier, for about half the price
lpher
I buy the OEM-wipers (arms and everything)...cause you can change just the rubber on them That HAS to be way cheaper than buying expensive name-brands wiperblades all the time?
