Pete
and can someone PLEASE explain what the whole "goodness of whole grain in a white bread" is about Well it goes like this.... Wholegrain is good for your heart. They put grain into the bread. You eat it. Your heart loves you. You spend the next two hours picking grain out of your teeth. tbourner
OMG I've been persecuted for my strange bready ways in the past, now finally I have found someone as equally anal about it as I!!!! I cut the sandwhich from left to right, leaving the bottom and top halves seperated, and then eat both bottom halves first (assuming I have used 4 slices in my lunch hence providing 2 sandwhiches), and leave the 2 top halves for later (similar to my dinner eating habits of 'save the best till last'). My brother is the only other person I know who is so pedantic, and we've both been laughed at for saying "The round bits taste better." which could be a placebo of some kind but I'm certain it's not!!. This is perfectly understandable, if my girlfriend has made me sandwiches and cut them in half, this is exactly how I would eat them. I just don't bother with the cutting them in half first. Maybe I should add another poll to see if people cut in half length-ways or sideways. I also leave my Yorkshire puddings til last.
Ewen
I always have a marmite one, marmalade one and blue cheese one at each sitting....sometimes I eat the marmalade one first, sometimes the marmite one first, but ALWAYS leave the blue cheese till last. I eat each corner first, which forms a maltese cross, then I eat each arm of the cross in turn, leaving a circular shaped 'biscuit' for last. edd_t
brilliant thread! i cut mine in half, then eat from the middle out to the crust lol my fav sarnie filling is jam, cheese, peanut butter and ready salted crisps all together. try it, you'll like it
Prof. Monkey
I like to make mine, then pull it apart, eat the bread and then the contents.... I am a scientist, so I like to know how things are put together...
Charlotte
I can't believe i'm replying to this but.... I always cut mine into four unless i'm in a hurry. I prefer the bottom bit of the bread. My mum's sandwiches are ALWAYS nicer even with the same filling. I sometimes do the squashing thing too. Oh and i always dissect my food, especially if food is in layers, like cheesecake ie i eat the biscuit last.
RedM
Without sounding weird, I have this thing where I don't like the butter/marg etc to get within about 5mm of the edge. I eat sandwiches without cutting them at all. The squarest end ALWAYS tastes better. The best sandwiches are peanut butter and ketchup.
markssupra
I feel I must comment on this very important and serious issue. I cut the bread from left to right, but I dont care if I eat the top or bottom halves first. Eat from the middle out to the crust. Could get confusing with a square loaf though, are you cutting from left to right, or top to bottom. Or even bottom to top or right to left. Or if you cut into triangles, bottom left to top right, bottom right to top left, top right to bottom left or top left to bottom right.
Ewen
The power of christ compelled me to try eating the blue cheese one first for a change....this was not a good idea Ive lit candles in a circle round the marmite, but if this doesnt work we may have need of an exorcist
Thorin
Oh another sandwich I like is a nice mature chedder, with a little red sauce... then stick it in the microwave for about 30 seconds until the cheese starts to melt. Yum Ewen, have you never experimented with other cheeses?
edd_t
tuna, red onions and mustard is good too but not for the people sitting close afterwards! lol
Ewen
Ewen, have you never experimented with other cheeses? Thats got to be the strangest question Ive ever been asked.... Chesire and marmites nice, mild cheddar with marmite and marmalades nice too. If no ones looking I sometimes have crusty loaf with sliced banana, apple, wendslydale and a sprinkling of sugar. I go BPU some lunchtimes and have a ham / cheese / pinapple sub. May I take the opportunity to re-introduce eggy-bread ? Especially with grated cheese....Breakfast rocks
