terawua
At last some 'proper' racing, surely its relatively easy to point a car in a straight line and try not to make it wheelspin. Now if you add some corners and theres a whole lot more to think about not only gas but driving lines, braking points and throttle balancing reminds me of my karting days.... Oh and Bobbeh, what about a club sponsored car set up by Mr Wilson and driven by Mr Wilson (unless anyone can get hold of anyone better!)

Chris Wilson
Someone provide a car on decent tyres and brakes, and my, or stock, suspension, and I'll set it up and drive it. I love driving other peoples cars, fast
Branners
just to clarify a bit on the rules.. pretty much anything is allowed so long as you are running stock turbo housings. So you can have AEM, stroker kit, fully stripped interior etc so long as it has the stock turbo housings in place then its fine. By stock turbo housings they mean the current turbo setup but hybridised as far as you want. Its intended as an event for the people who cant spend £100,000 on a car to make it stupidly quick and so restricting the turbos to the original housing makes that feasible. Chris Wilson
If I was choosing a car I would want a J-Spec, weight is critical, so a stripped out one would be FAR quicker than a full weight one. Wonder if a body kit could make my GTS-t look like a Supra?

Branners
j-spec will be missing a serious amount of underseal and would be missing the diff cooler. The uk spec also has the additional braking circuit for the TC, not a massive difference but every little helps. The cheapy j-specs also have a plastic headlining instead of the luxury cloth version. It all depends how much you want to strip out of a car, you can easily lose the AC, the active spoiler, the interior and the diff cooler which would drop the weight nicely. But may as well start with a j-spec as they are cheaper to buy and dont have all the extra special items on them. JB
Bobbeh
Maybe you'd want the diff cooler if you're tracking a car in the first place, or does one like cooked diffs At the end of the day this difference in weight on a stripped car is gonna be lost with bad driving mistakes, so its hot air

Bobbeh
Best bet would be to buy a wreck and do that up I'd have thought. That way the parts can be moved on to another car if an accident happens and no one would mind too much

Chris Wilson
From the full regs: 3-7. A minimum six point rollcage is mandatory. Bolt-in or fully welded Cages may be manufactured from seamless T45, Chromoly, or mild steel tubing. All cages regardless of material must have a main hoop from 45x2.5mm, 50x2mm tube. 38x2.5mm. 42x2mm is permissible for all other parts of the cage’s construction. Where used, all fasteners must be high tensile. All roll cages must be either welded or bolted to the body, each body/tube securing plate must be of the following specifications ( for bolt in cages a plate either side of the body is required : 5 square inch plate with a minimum 3mm thickness. The front cage uprights may not be bent in towards the driver (as some do to avoid the dashboard, see fig1) as each bend is a stress riser. For the 2006 season it will be acceptable to have a door bar/s provide additional bracing on the apex of the driver facing bend, see fig 2 and 3. Note : Preferred for 2006 and mandatory for 2007, please see the cage drawing in fig 4 below, where possible for 2006 all cages should be constructed to this design. From the Time Attack Challenge page at: http://www.japmobiles.com/japukmeets/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5569 It is intended to be an opportunity for the various internet performance cars clubs to “step away from the keyboard” and settle some old scores at the place that our cars should be pushed – the Racetrack ! The rules are fairly simple : Roll cages are allowed – not mandatory Road legal dot marked tyres Any suspension mods allowed Any braking mods allowed I think I see an immediate problem with the rules
Branners
Hi Chris, thats for the full time attack event, this is the interclub bit on which they are relaxing all the rules. I complained that there was nothing for the little guy out there and that the tuners just thrown money at a car while we all watch. They worked out a way of getting lesser mortals to compete in the event. So roll cages are not required and almost all the other rules go out the window. Im hoping for a full set of rules shortly. Baldy - you can compete in 1 or all of the events. They have said its a chance for lots of club members to have a go but Im thinking 2 or 3 people with the best BPU spec we can get so we can win the club challenge bit. So lets see who sticks their hand up and see what the final rules say. JB
Chris Wilson
Thanks John. Would love to see the interclub rules. If you are allowed a proper tyre, still DOT "E" marked, like a P Zero Corsa, or Pilot Sport Cup, it would be worth a LOT I am actually very interested in doing a round or two of this, but in my GTS-t, and it's not often I get into this sort of competition, it just seems to have caught my imagination. The need for stock turbo housing is the bug bear, as a stock GTs-t turbo is tiny.
