max55uk
Hi all, I have recently took delivery of an import supra Twin Turbo which i had imported personally, to cut the long story short took the car for a test run & there is no power!, the car does not boost up, took it to a local techinican who does a lot of work on turbo charged cars & thinks the Turbo's are knackered. He's checked al the pipes etc, they all seem in tact. Can somebody put me through to anyone who has both turbo's lying around, Many Thanks in Advance
Guru
I would put a request into the Wanted Section mate. However, if they have gone and you have a little money to spend why not invest in some hybrids?
gaijin
Welcome to the club mate!Read my post. The blokes here on mkiv have been really helpful.Only decision to make is:single or hybrids.I'm still thinking and counting my pennies.Good luck
Tom
hmm, does seem strange that you see no boost or anything, I havent heard of both turbo's not working, just the 2nd one, so I'd keep checking pipe's and vsv's etc, where are you based?
mikeyb10supra
Im betting on a blown pipe somewhere.....how many miles have the turbos done??
Homer
Are you sure its a turbo problem? It doesn't sound like your garage know what they're talking about. Take it to someone who knows Supra's, where are you based?
Chris Wilson
I'd bet a lot that it's not both turbos gone, take it to a specialist (Me.... )

max55uk
You sure it's not an N/A? Hiya mate, yeah it does drive like one, lol. I'm based in west yorkshire, the cars still at the garage, the chaps going to strip down to find the fault, he did say can be a damaged pipe. See what happens...will keep you posted
SuperSupra
Good luck matey, hope it's not as bad as it sounds.
GazzaGSi
Just in case it is as bad as it sounds. Try the link: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=60615
Homer
Sorry to sound harsh, but nothing sounds bad here... The guy has been informed his turbo's have 'gone'. This is extremely unlikely and more than likely its just a popped hose or has a vsv issue. I seriously hope this garage knows their way round the supra sequential system, if not you're wasting your money having them look at it. Seriously, take it to someone who knows what they're doing. For anyone who's knows their stuff it should take 15 mins max to figure out the problem, if it takes longer you're wasting your money.
JohnA
...He's checked al the pipes etc, they all seem in tact. ... Yep, as others have said, a non-supra specialist won't even know what pipes are relevant, or how they look when they fail. A quick glance over the bay isn't going to tell all. I bet these people don't even know how the sequential works. Did they check boost with the car in TTC mode?
mikeyh
i would take it to some one you trust i didnt listen when i first brought the supra and it cost me a new engine these cars cost a fortune when they go wrong dont make the same mistake as me:rolleyes:
afennell
Have they done a preasure test, to check the iontercooler. Maybe the the turbos have just gone on a little holiday together.

Guru
A decent set of hybrids are the cheapest way to go probably. Otherwise its a 'single' route.....
chilli
wow that's pretty strange for both to be seezed! any idea of the cause, bad oil circulation? worth investigating as that is odd
Scooter
Both Turbo blades are siezed will NOT spin? has anyone else heard of this? ie "siezed" turbos?
JohnA
lack of oil. If you're lucky your rods and crank bearings are not stuffed from crappy lubrication.
Chris Wilson
lack of oil. If you're lucky your rods and crank bearings are not stuffed from crappy lubrication. Agreed, I'd pull the engine and have a look in the sump and at the main and big end shells.
chilli
lack of oil. If you're lucky your rods and crank bearings are not stuffed from crappy lubrication. yeah if both have gone it must have been due to a common cause to both of them, oil circulation sounds like the most obvious, and thats potentially very bad, you need to investigate and check the rest of the engine out. Got an oil pressure gauge? might be worth checking the pressure...
JohnA
If he's very lucky then there was a problem only in the oil feed of the turbos, perhaps a localised blockage or something. But realistically chances are that more damage is in store, especially if the car was driven after the lubrication went belly up.
max55uk
could it be possible that the car has been stood in Japan & over in the docks, as i'd mentioned it is a fresh Jap Import. I'd say its been standing around for approx 5-6 weeks maybe a touch more. I'm getting even more worried with this oil circulation problem
