Terminator
I have a high stall TC that I will be putting in the car soon. I am a bit anal about build cleanliness. Can anyone recommend a way to clean it out so it is nice and clean.

DannoSupra
Keep on flushing it with fresh oil if u got the money to buy loads... or try and leave some sort of engine degreaser in it overnight, like 'Gunk' or something
Chris Wilson
You can't clean them out, in the auto rebuild world they always fit a new one, the old one is cut open on a lathe, cleaned, checked, wearing parts renewed, and then it's rewelded and balanced. If the box it came off has never had any failure of bands or clutches it's PROBABLY ok if it's been kept capped and away from muck. HTH.
Terminator
Thanks Chris. I think it is probably clean enough. The fluid coming out looks very clean and fresh. I know it was not used much since being rebuilt by a specialist to enable it to hold really big power. What is visible down the input shaft is spotless. It was covered. So I will just leave it capped until fitted.

Terminator
Well after much deliberation, I decided on a mix of valve grinding paste, Fairy liquid, meths , brake fluid and rain water. It sure has loosened everything up a treat.
