markymark
had just bought a brand new fridge freezer - filled it up to the brim & fridge was full - then, for the second time in a couple of months, the fridge freezer has decided to stop working... everything destroyed... our menu tonight was: chicken - but then we opened it and were knocked over by the smell then chicken pasta bake, but when we cooked it, it didn't taste right then onto pork chops - which we ended up eating on their own... now wishing we'd just had takeaway... then the company says they can't come out til Tuesday but we have to leave the food in the f/freezer so we can prove our claim???!!! the freezer is now getting slightly cooler - so the freezer is now our fridge, and the fridge is now an oven damn stupid fridge makers - how come when we were kids, the fridge we had was as old as us - and was still the same fridge on our 21st??!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Supragal
Oh my God. I had a huge fridge/freezer in the shed (which is powered obviously) which I used to store big stuff like chicken, bottles of water, and in the summer BBQ drinks/food so peopel didn't need to keep trapsing through the house. Anyway, just after Xmas I went out to get some chicken in.... opened the freezer door. I nearly died. The fuse had gone *sometime* (rarely went out there) and the chicken had rotted. Thick brown sludge mixed with whatever else was in there. I had a really really heavy cold so could hardly smell anything, my boyfriend was nearly puking though, so I'm very very glad I was ill actually. Spent hours trying to clean it, bleach, scrubbing etc but it was fecked, totally fecked. Just stank and thick browny red gunge kept appearing from I presume the foam stuff inside. Tried to claim on house insurance- wouldn't have any of it. So I paid the council £12.50 to take it away. Best bit was, by the time this happened it had sat even longer in the conservatory so I thought I'd better tape the doors shut... did so, went to move it.. only to discover I'd taped the hinged side so they flew straight open. I've never smelt anything like it in my life, it was beyond disgusting. Of course trying not to breath in while laughing at your own stupidity is not easy... I did wonder if someone would see it at the tip and think "that looks brand new"... open door... haha.

TLicense
When I was doing my valve stem seals, I accidentally unplug my parents freezer for 4 days. Only realised it was the freezer I had unpluged as I was tidying bits away when I'd finished the job. It was actually my dad who realised it was unplugged and asked how long it had been like that. He was in a seething mood for one reason or another, and I knew this would make him loose it, so I said that I had only *just* done it, and plugged it back in. When I got and told my girlfriend she tried to convince me to phone him up and come clean. I recon'd it would be OK, as it's a chest freezer and they tend to stay cold for some time after being turned off. However when she got to work the next day, she told her colleague, who said that I could potentially kill my parents if they ate some gammy food that had been defrosted and then re-frozen a few days later. Anyway I gave in and told them. Luckilly they hadn't eaten anything. When we opened the freezer though, we had a new problem. When it had de-frosted all the ice and stuff had melted and became a large puddle in the bottom. When I'd plugged it back in, it had frozen again. Encasing rotten food in ice.... which as my punishment I had to chizzle out. Not nice to say the least. Now I check about five times every-time I unplug anything at my parents place! UltraFlynn
We bought a Hotpoint freezer which totally stopped working (and trashed all the food in it) exactly 1 week over the years warranty. My wife when ballistic at them and get a load of money off the repair bill. Note to self: When buying electrical items, do not buy cheap stuff. Buy AEG or Bosch and it's more likely not to go wrong and cost you loads.
