Pixelfill
So this effectively looks like someone's ebay account is being used by someone else, is that the case ? It looks suspicious when you look at the account history. They've been a member since Jan 05, sold only 12 items in the last 6 months, then suddenly a veritable garage sale of high value items all with 24 hour listings . where does the account holder stand if people buy anything? I noticed someone ids bidding on the Pioneer AVIC Wasn't aware of this scam until I saw this post, but just goes to show you should always check the feedback - not just for positive feedback, but also for account history. Buying/selling patterns. Thanks for the heads up guys. Mike
markssupra
Never seen that before, it does look suspicious with all those items only 24 hour listing. Someones gonna get stuffed. Thanks for the info.
toyotasuprauk
This eBay member was probably tricked by the fake eBay emails (phissing) into giving his user name and password. Then the fraudster puts ads up at 10pm when eBay probably aren’t there and for only for 24 hours under the wristwatch category so you have to search for that specific item. There is also a direct email address and an encouragement to buy quickly. You should always check the feedback, I mean the guy bought a £12 clock radio then he suddenly puts tens of thousands pounds worth of equipment for sale at 10pm and is in a rush to sell. I’m sure I’ve seen that picture of the b+w speakers on eBay before so all the ads are probably all copied from other people the seller will want paying by western union no doubt and you will never hear from them again! Pixelfill
I just asked the seller a question, and got an immediate response asking me to redirect the question to that gmail account. This sounds very suspicious to me. Is there a mechanism to alert ebay to our suspicions? Mike
toyotasuprauk
Yes, you should contact ebay, Community/safety centre/report another problem report a problem. Follow on from there.
toyotasuprauk
I emailed the address and got this: (not surprised) First I am going to tell you some things I think you should know before ending this deal.I travel a lot and now I am in Eastern Europe. The item is going to be shipped from Europe also. My item is brand new, unopened box all accessories included and also an international warranty. Now, I can ship through UPS air next day delivery. I will pay for all taxes. If you wish you can also send me your full shipping info so I can make a reservation on your name . The price of the item is 1000$ (as I said earlier with shipping and insurance taxes included). I need some money as fast as possible so I am offering a 10 % discount if we end the deal in 24 hours. Here I am stuck to western union wire transfer.I can't use paypal because it's not available yet. Just because of this I set up an insurance with ebay which guaranties 100 % of this deal. If you wish I can contact eBay right away and have them send you an invoice with my insurance. If you agree on my terms I am sure we can close the deal right now. Please reply after you think it over. Best regards.

michael
I've reported each item and made them aware that I think the seller's account is being used by someone else to rob people - chances are they won't act until it's too late or just ignore me but I tried..... Pixelfill
I reported them also, and have also just received this: Dear pixelfill ([email protected]): Our records indicate that you recently sent an email to or received an email from stevenshaun2005 through the eBay email system (for example, you may have sent an email to this member through Ask Seller a Question or received an email from this member through Contact eBay Member). Sometimes eBay accounts are used to send email solicitations for transactions outside of eBay, or to send unrelated questions in hopes that you will respond so that the other party can obtain your email address. We wanted you to be aware of the potential fraud risk these solicitations pose and encourage you to be cautious about the email you received from this member. Please keep in mind, sales that take place outside of eBay are not eligible for any eBay or PayPal protective services and you run the risk of losing your money or your item if you complete these transactions. We would encourage you to review the eBay pages related to Fraud Protection at the address provided below for information on steps you can take to ensure that your transactions are successful: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/confidence/isgw-fraud-ov.html Should you have paid for this item, please write with details through our "Contact Us" form found on the page below: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_inline/index.html Please select "Report problems with other eBay members > Fraud concerns for buyers > You paid for an item but never received it" If you have paid for the item through PayPal, you may find the following page useful: /csg/p?http://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_pbp-info-outside Regards, Trust & Safety Department Job well done guys (well maybe) Mike
