Supra Pilot
APEXi AVC-R or the Blitz SBC ID 3. What have you gotten and why? Also the experienced ones, which is more user friendly and which has more potential for say further mods etc.. Dom
dude
Blitz cause its easy to use and install , fits nicely under the stereo (DIN size when combined with Power Meter), and the Apexi's have had issues with the solenoids (look better though IMO) Dude:flame Dev
Supra Pilot
Is this a fact John, about the solenoids? I found(research) it seems to have more features/options and also compatiblity with other Apexi products(AFR controllers etc). Plus it does look nice. Oh and cheaper too.... But I see where you are coming from, as I am not one for 2 million gadets and gauges stuck all over inside the car! You reckon the Blitz is also easy to instal and set up! Thanks for your opinion m8......

Adam W
I've heard very few good reports on the AVCR. Overcomplicated, not that reliable, not very good at holding boost in varying conditions. It's been around for donkeys years as well. I've got the old-school 1/4 DIN blitz DSBC which works perfectly, easy to setup and adjust etc. The SBC-iD would be the one I'd go for if I had the money. Matt Harwood
I've heard bad things about the solenoids on the Apexi unit too. The Blitz one, when tied to the powermeter, gives you the ability to set up a speed dependant boost map.
randy
Blitz unit is better!! I use the Greddy Profec B very simple to use and works great!
Ian C
I only stick with my AVCr because a) it came with the car and therefore cost me no money, b) it reads my speed nicely, c) it looks nice, and d) I've finally got it to a point where it holds 1.3bar more often than not. I think my problems with it fluctuating boost left right and centre are basically down to the inadequate wastegate despite the restrictor ring, so it's probably unfair for me to expect it to maintain one boost level no matter what when the whole system has a couple of big variables. I've heard nowt but good about the Blitz units but they are ugly Of course Dom, as soon as you modify your car in this fashion you'll never show it off in public again -Ian
Supera
HKS EVC EZ II Enuff Said! The best and the cheapest, even single turbo owners are happy with it. I had EVC IV on my GTO last year but it discontinued, now am getting the EVC EZ II. Gotta Love the Low / High boost buttons You need the EVC Kit too for a perfect installation. 1 of the Accessories: EVC Scramble Boost Switch -------------------- The most accurate and stable boost levels possible. Boost pressure will rise faster and earlier in each gear and be maintained without fear of overboosting. Also the EVC EZ II is capable of being upgrade to a full EVC unit by simply adding an EVC Display unit. --------------------- Which means you will have an EVC 5 Originally posted by Supra Pilot APEXi AVC-R or the Blitz SBC ID 3. Adam W
How's a restrictor ring gonna get me to 30psi?
Ian C
Same way a boost controller limits a decatted j-spec to 1.1 bar -Ian

Supra Pilot
Thanks, that about does it for, that and some more reading. It looks like Blitz then, also all the other gadgets will be Blitz as well, keep it in the family! Ian yes m8, I am afraid of that awfull curse, but I believe it is mainly common now among the Flash colour upgraded version of the Supras.
SKI
That's great guys.... I just bought an AVCR, mainly cos.... It look good, especially in the box, which is where it might stay after reading the above. Worried about having it installed now! Anyone out there actually like it or had it running without problems!? Should've read the threads first I guess. Later SKI
