Guest ims3ola Posted February 24, 2006 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Hi everyone, i was wondering if I could draw on your experiences of the different gearboxes in the NA. The general consensus with the TT seems to be a 50-50 split between the manual and auto 'box. I was wondering if the same applies to the NA - does the NA need the added flexibility of the manual 'box or does it still have enough power to make the auto box work well? Chris Wilson Posted February 24, 2006 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Excellent, they suit the auto box set up. the 5 speed manual is not a brilliant box when the mileage piles up, or if it's had a hard life. Synchros wear out and they also get whiney. Late N/a's have a Getrag 6 speed manual which is a much stronger box, with no known problems save a rather agricultural shift quality.
