Another tyre question

Recommended Posts

Plenty of tyre threads I know but none with the quite the answer I'm looking for.

Currently running with 265's rear and 235's front.

Rears are definitely in need of replacement but fronts still have a fair bit of tread. (Were fitted as a set)

I'm wanting to put 275's on at the back and when the time comes 245's on in front.

How bad an idea is it to run with the combination of 275 rear and 235 front or am I worrying about nothing?

Worrying to about nothing.

I'm not sure I would go with 245 fronts however

245 fronts is no problem either, plenty of guys on here including myself run 245 fronts.

Also no problem with 275 rear 235 front setup, the handling balance will be slightly different but you won't notice it unless you are properly giving it some round corners etc.

Tramling mainly. Although since Leon fitted my Teins and did the alignment it's all but gone.

Do they cost much more than 235's

I'm sure I will look stupid for asking this but here goes anyway....

I am running exactly the same tyre sizes as Matt H and am wondering why you have 40's on the front and 35's on the back.

I have just bought new tyres and was considering getting 35's on the front, didn't in the end though.

Can you run 35's front and back, is there a specific reason not to?

Its all about keeping the same rolling radius of the wheels front and back. Wider rears have lower series tyres (35) to stay approx same radius / diameter as the narrower fronts.

There is a spreadsheet previously posted by Thorin, which i searched for but the link is now not working. I have it saved at home so could post it up later.

I am after the same size as you SMW! 2 x 275/35/18.. are goodyear F1 the ones to go for on a Supra? at the moment i've only been looking for prices for the Dunlops sp 9000! £182.50 from mytyres kwikfit charge £223.99 per tyre.

SMW what size have you got on your fronts?
