Pot
Sadly I've been a bit of a bad boy, and on Monday the powers that be will be lightening my wallet of my license for about a year - Boo... Obviously I want to keep the Sup, but don't fancy it sitting in my road, or on a drive for 12 months, so does anyone know of a way of storing it until I'm able to drive it again?... Jake
Send it to Samurai Performance in Essex for some bodywork.
Bobbeh
He said a year not a decade! Sorry to hear that, was it just a ban or a disqualification?
toyotasuprauk
Send it to Samurai Performance in Essex for some bodywork. What did you do, have you thought about how expensive insurance might be when your bans up? Else you could rent a garage and store it in there. JohnA
I'd consider selling it. Seriously, after a year of storage it will have depreciated, probably needing a new battery, calipers and what have you, insurance may not be affordable after a yearly ban, your view towards a 20mpg car might be different as well. If you love the car you keep it of course, it's a matter of heart vs logic.
Supragal
I store mine in a lock up, cost me £60 a month but it's wide enough and has power etc, which is a bonus. Farnham is a bit far for you though I'm sure!! Plus I'm not sure he has any more room at the mo.
Pig
i agree with selling it im afraid. tell us what you did then!
letmeshowyou
Alternatively - you could start a Supra rental scheme?
Pig
Not that your first customer would stack it or anything lol!
Bobbeh
I went without mine for a year, but that was having someone driving it every other day, providing you can afford the increased insurance premiums and are willing to wait (it does go quick) you shouldnt have to sell. Nick
If you want to store it I can recommend Manor Car Storage near Stansted airport, they took excellent care of mine when I was away.
Pot
Thanks for all the advice guys... I am hoping to keep it, and at the moment I'm working out the details... It will be a disqualification for 12 months (For somehting I'm horrifically ashamed of) - For drink driving... (It's the old story of 'I only had a couple', 'I felt fine', I waited a couple of hours, but it turned out on a spot check I was still over the limit)... Trust me, I'm kicking myself about it big time... As my licence is decorated enough my 2 previous bans (Not for DD), and SP50, will have passed the 5 year period by the time I get it back, so 'hopefully' and theoretically the increase won't be too much... I think renting a lockup would be the best idea, as long as I can secure it enough, I've got someone to drive it now and again for me aswell, and of course the money I'll be saving on fuel can go to the insurance for next year, plus I'm sure a few mods too... toyotasuprauk
Might me worth doing a fake quote online and putting on there you have a DD ban because the insurance might be really, really expensive!
toyotasuprauk
If you really want to keep it then thats something only you can decide upon, remembering the values are going down. That said some are taking a year to sell so might not be worth it?

Yeah drink driving is even more frowned on than dangerous driving, and its a 10 year license thing! I'd try a quote anyway, but I cant see it being under £2.5k a year. Jake
Did Mr Pot say how old he is? I was 32 when I got my DR10 and insurance wasn't that much of a problem when I got my license back. I had a beater car and a group 20 bike (Brand new FireBlade) but they were both resonable to insure. There's a few of us on here with previous DR10s (I could name four), so it can be done (Insuring a Supe after a DD conviction) Edit to add: Not sure about DR10s being worse than dangerous driving to insurers. Maybe it depends how much over the limit you were. They all asked me that when I was getting quotes. Because I was only 2 points over they were like "yeah that'll be OK"
geoffvalenti
Thanks for all the advice guys... As my licence is decorated enough my 2 previous bans (Not for DD), and SP50, will have passed the 5 year period by the time I get it back I'm just amazed that come Monday you will have been caught speeding AND banned 3 times in 5 years We all do stupid things, but you seem to have made a career out of it. I'm not taking any moral stand here, there, but for the grace of God, go I, but I do honestly think that over the next year it would be a very good idea to reconsider your driving style, before you, or someone else gets seriously hurt. Good luck with your court case. Personally I'd probably keep the car, but I'm a glutton for punishment.
