Supragal
I did do a search for this but it doesn't appear to be working...sorry if it's a repeat (imagine it is!!) Anyone really up on Toad alarms? Couple questions... I take it the Ai606t2 is top of the range yeah? How does it compare to clifford top of the range? I've heard rumours about various lack of features but other products that are compatible with the toad to give it further functionaility, basically I want the following, so whats feasible and whats not? sorry about the vague descriptions on some things....lol) -remote engine start -total closure -auto door locking when ignition is on thingy -tilt sensor -black jack (hijacking thingy) - turbo timer (or ability to work with after market one) - paging keyfob thingy sure i'm forgetting someting but that'll do for a start at least! Supragal
Cheers dude... (cue matt harwood...) Black jack thing is (I guess) dependant on manufacturer but basically something along the lines of if the door is opened when the engine is running without a button being pressed to deactivate the feature the car can only be moved a certain distance/time or something before the car locks the intruder in and cuts the engine, so basically locks the thief in the car a short distance from where it was robbed and stops the car going anywhere else...I think thats what it's all about anyway!! Gaz Walker
It doesn't compare to the clifford top of the range I've had cars with both so I can say that... If you want an alarm that does that (and more) get a clifford. IMO Gaz.
Supragal
Isnt the clifford ricoculously expensive in comparison though? and every meet i go to all the alarms that constantly go off with no reason are cliffords- and i'm always hearing about things stopping working and breaking- is this true or am I just in contact with unlucky people? lol Plus I can get the Ai606blah blah thingy for like £45..... which is tempting.... ChrisB
i had a toad on my last car, and gotta say i was pleased to see the car go just so i could get rid of the hgorrible annoying toad ai600 (or something like that) Now got the clifford concept 600 and much better alarm, and it doesnt constantly go off for no reason:innocent:

400BHP
I have a concept 600, and its not given me any probems whatsoever, its a fantastic system, solid chassis and loads of functions, BlackJax does not lock in the thief, it allows the vehicle to be driven a short distance, if a code is not entered by means of a switch, the siren will start to sound, the lights (indicators and brake) will start to flash and when the vehicle slows down for a turn the engine will cut out, the remotes become useless and hopefully the thief will leg it. I'd prefer a clifford to a toad, the new G5 when it comes out over here looks wicked!

Matt Harwood
A good alarm is only as good as the installation and after support. Crap installations will cause problems, and even a good set-up may need alteration from time to time. The Toad Ai606, (IMO), is probably one of the best built, most stable alarms around. However, it does lack the features of the Clifford. You can get Blackjack as a stand alone feature, and you can get remote start as an add on or stand alone, but it's not ideal for a manual car, (noting that you have an SZ-R, which I assume is manual?). I would personally go for the Concept 600 and intellistart, but the price difference is going to be a lot... Where on earth can you get Ai606's for £45? - I'll buy as many as you can get your hands on for that price... I can't even get 2 remotes for that price!!! Feel free to give me a call if you want to discuss anything. Features, differences, reliability, costs... Supplying me alarms 01622 683044
Supragal
So how much would the shiny clifford with all the toys I want set me back? I take it you fit them Matt...? So maybe we could come to some arrangement over trade toads for clifford fitting? lol Not sure how many I can get, I'll find out. Cheers for the info guys! Anyone know WHY toad don't bother competing properly???

Matt Harwood
Mrs Supra, give me a call I wouldn't say they don't compete as such, just that gadgets, or 'convienience features' are typically American... We do far more Toad alarms than Cliffords... Chris, yep, all day
