No Tax and Lots Of Police Attention

Took my bike to work this morning, the first time in like a month. Only problem is i don't have tax :( So i'm sat at work and in walks one of th engineers asking is the R6 mine. I follow him out and there's 2 police officers standing by my bike taking down details. The bike is parked on private property but as the title says, the tax is out of date. I think if i get a phone calls or letters i'll just say it's off the road and was brought in by van as a potential buyer from work was intrested. it's parked up for a good 12 hours so if they come back to check it'll still be here. What do people think?? Should i start getting the overtime in now to pay for the fine??

I think the person at work who bought the R6 in (not you of course) should clarify when he/she gets a producer that the motorcycle was on private property due to an interested buyer and was bought in a van, to which they could prove by showing any curious authoratarian the vehicle and the strapping to hold said motorcycle down.

Considering the cost of motorcycle tax, the defendant would have been very silly no ride the bike, hence the necessity for the van.

:ok:

That about sumsits up. How long ago did the bike's tax run out. You do get some leway, not sure how much. One of my vans has been SORN for two years, I forgot to renew for 6 weeks but nothing happened. Did you drive by any camera vans with cameras on poles say 10 foot in the air? These are the tax disc vans.

I think it's bad news mate :( I think the new laws state that you have to either tax a vehicle or declare a SORN. You can no longer not tax a car / bike and just rely on not getting caught.

*waits patiently for someone to tell the truth* :p

this is true and the computer dishes out an automatic £80 fine now.

If your lucky it will be the same or half within 7 days or watever it is!

The bike is SORN because of winter coming up so that's all cool. No camera vans were passed etc etc...

Think i'll just play this out.....

If they write to you just say that your number plate was stolen earlier that day i.e someone else stole it for their own R1, and you didnt think nothing of it. lol

In the mean time order another number plate and keep the recipt, incase they ask for proof. :D

Camden is th armpit of the world so there's always a Police presence. But not really seen them take intrest ina car/bike before :(

Oh well, i'll just sit and wait i guess and hope my redundance will cover anything i may get stuck with :D

If you had the bike covered, I don't think they had the right to touch it (so they couldn't see the number legally)

Works with parking attendands, too (at least it *used* to be a loophole, not sure if it still works)

But yearly tax on the bike is silly low, why did you allow it to expire? False economy IMO.
