Rob
Having fitted me CW standard pads last weekend, minus the shims, I find if I reverse slightly and apply brakes, there is a double knock from the front, which then repeats if I drive forward and apply brakes. It sounds like the discs moving, but that cannot be as the wheel bolts are all secure. Any ideas?
Terminator
Sounds like the pads seating, If the brakes are clean there has to be a very small amount of play to allow the pads to move. As the pads age the sliding tracks get full of crud which reduces the travel. I think you have slightly more travel on JDM brakes. I don't think it is anything to worry about
Matt Harwood
When I first fitted the UK brakes to my car, I had no shims to start with and I got the same thing. I expect it'll be OK when you fit the shims... I still get it slightly from the rear brakes though, but only faint.
Rob
Phew, thats allright then. Thanks very much
Keith C
I get it all the time on my car. I figure it's just the pads shifting slightly in the calipers. I have the shims and it still does it, but it's been doing it a while now and my wheels haven't fallen off so it's probably ok
womble
Mine also does it but it's by no means just a knock, it rattles that much it sounds like a milk float doing 80 oner cobbles !. Stops well though .
Guest Jonno2020
I have the same problem from the rear NS wheel. The frist sign is a squeel and then only when I apply the brakes gently does the noise occur. It only seems to make a noise when the brakes are hot. Had it checked twice by Toyota and they have suggested fitting fibre shimms.. Will try it next week and see. Bloody loud noise though.

Ian C
Don't ask what's a good oil to use when you do, otherwise someone might warn you about a bad product and then you'll have to pick your toys up post-pram ejection -Ian
Guest Jonno2020
Thanks, will bear that in mind! Will first have to stop pram as the contents seem to be missing, they must have exited through window!!
