atang Posted July 9, 2003 Share Posted July 9, 2003 Has any one had similar sound to this, when rev to 2.5k turbo start whistle, when rev to about 4.5k there is a rarrrrr sound coming in for a short time till about 5k rev. anyone has any idea??? Bobbeh Posted July 9, 2003 Share Posted July 9, 2003 Atang, I dont think you've got a problem, I think its normal, the 2nd does make a louder noise when it comes online, more of a roar, the whistle at 2.5k is just the 1st spooling up I suspect. pulse Posted July 9, 2003 Share Posted July 9, 2003 It's probably not the same thing, but my mk3 was making a 'raar' sound combined with a rattle (knock) at high end revs (especially when changing between gears with no real pressure on the drive shaft).. But my crank shaft was gone and now the engine has blown up But yours doesn't sound like that, it was a definite knocking noise.
