Crashed ... Dammit!

Well ... It's time for another update!! :D

The car has now been off the road since the accident on the 24th of November .. WELL over 3 months. It took a month for any of the repairs to be approved which sucked

New door arrived .... dented and screwed up. My bodywork guys were offered it at a 40% discount if they repaired it. Quite rightly they said "thanks, but no thanks". We ordered a brand new door ... that's what we want!!! So a new, 100% ok, door has now arrived and is on the car.

After removing the wheel that took the impact, we soon realised that the hub had actually been bent too. Another 3 weeks of non-stop phone calls, faxes and e-mails until a new hub was finally approved :( .

Now, in all this time, my guys have obviously had other cars come in. So now I have to wait for them to clear out the other customers' cars before they can finally get mine done!

I am, however, taking this opportunity to get the car resprayed. At the moment we are looking at a very dark Honda metallic blue. It almost looks black until it catches the light.

All in all though, we're looking at 4 months of no Supra :( . I have no hire car because I chose to use my own (trusted) garage, which has been a nightmare getting to work. My guys have had my car taking up space for 4 months. I have NO IDEA whose fault the accident is still. No calls, no communication ... nothing. Until then, I have no chance of a hire car or anything. If it does turn out to be the other party's fault, can I claim for lack of car (I have missed loads of days at work!!), storage costs etc etc? This whole experience has left me (and my bodywork guys) WELL out of pocket so far ... and incredibly frustrated :( :( . I just want my car back now!

Cheers, J

The problem I've got now is that my exhaust was pushed into the Turbos and a stud snapped which is now blowing. The Ins Co (Ensign/Claimtec) have said that this is due to "mechanical failure caused by the car's age" what a load of Bollox!!!

J

Not impressed with Ensign/Claimtec at all at the moment. All the legwork has been done by me. It's me phoning them all the time to ask for updates. And I usually get a very grumpy, uninterested, sounding person who I think just wants to get me off the phone.

It's also my bodywork guys that have to phone them and chase approvals time and time again. They are fuming about it as everything is taking so long.

I had to deal with ensign and claimtec as well when my car got vandalised november 2005. Didn't had too much trouble tbh, just that their approved garage was a bit sloppy :(

Hope you get your car back soon James, sounds like a real nightmare!!

Aye .. which is the exact reason I chose my own guys that I trust (I'm sure most people would do the same given the option). And I seem to be being heavily penalised for making that choice

Sorry, but a specialist car needs a specialist garage. It's not like it's a Fiesta or a Nova with a dent, but I suspect that's how an approved garage would treat it. Just another job to get out of the door as fast as possible.

Cheers guys,

Well .. I know it will be back bigger and better than before. Whilst it's off the road I am: -

- Refurbing the Wheels

Cleaning the FMIC

- Having a mould of my front bumper made (anyone interested :D - Rare as hell :D )

- Full Respray

- Boot Rubbers

etc etc

It's just annoying, cos a cold, dry, day like today is PERFECT Supra weather. And I don't have one!!! :bang:

Could be wrong, but your indicators are only an INDICATION that you MAY turn, does not constitute a contract between you and anyone who may see this that you definately WILL turn. It's up to them to make sure the way is clear before pulling out. She's at fault if she hit you

Sorry to read this James. Mine took 2 months to sort out (June - August last year) and I'm still having problems which the Insurance Co won't pay for :thumbdown (although Sky have been good, just the other insurance co wriggling out of it)

There was a letter in Honest John's column in the DT with just this scenario. The driver indicating then cancelling and proceeding straight on should be aware of possible confusion caused, therefore should predict the possibility that the person waiting at the junction will pull out. I reckon it'll be a 50/50 split.

She shouldn't have pulled out until she was sure you were turning in, but you should have been expecting her to do exactly what she did do. Sorry.
