Pig
Does anyone have one of these? And do they recommend getting one? Cheers
foodfreak
better than an EGT gauge........gives a more accurate idea of what's happening inside the combustion chamber. John
chilli
Good question, I was planing on getting one at some stage, I think AEM ones that places like Thor do might be quite good like this one http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/AEM_Universal_UEGO_WBO2-304100.asp It's got to be a good thing to have, bit like a boost guage, important so you can keep an eye on things... supradibbs
defo worth while if thinking about going single or hybrids go standalone with the aem or innovate one i belive the innovate is supposed to be the better of the two thats why i brought the aem lol

Pig
Cheers buddy, I see you have one fitted in the air vent and one in the clock. My clock slot is already full. Is the next step cut a hole or airvent??? Dont want pillar pod
heckler
my AEM is in the clock - i still have both of my air vents Whats wrong with a pillar pod eh?
Pig
Lol, just not my style. sorry just realised thats not a photo of your car. Any idea's any one? clock space gone
Soonto_HAS_soop
I prefered the idea of the innovate, as I've heard that the AEM's scale is a little too narrow, whereas the Innovate is programmable. Also as the Innovate gauge is sooooo thin, it is much easier to install, I got mine fitted into the position of the crappy facelift boost gauge. Plus it's pretty cheap if you get it from Dusty and MVP.
chilli
I'd like to know, what makes one better than another? What makes the innovative better than the aem for example? I'm not suggesting it is/isn't, just what makes a good one? ooops cross posted, think you've probably just answered that ben lol. do they all have an output for an EMU such as the emanage though? oh and if you have an o2, do you really need an egt as well, are they kinda telling you the same sort of thing? Homer
Lol, just not my style. sorry just realised thats not a photo of your car. Any idea's any one? clock space gone The 'normal' spaces are: - The two air vents - Clock space - Single, Double or triple pillar pod - Triple pod that replaces the top glove box/air bag - Remove the stereo and fit two large gauges - Get a single DIN stereo and fit small small gauges in the spare din space. - Drill a 'pod' type gauge to the top of the dash Not sure theres many other options. Personally I'd go for a single pillar pod.
Pig
hmm, i wonder i wonder. How essential is this extra gauge? Should i wait and see what boost im running then ask?
chilli
I don't think you need one until you start running noticeably higher than standard boost, what boost are you running?

I prefered the idea of the innovate, as I've heard that the AEM's scale is a little too narrow, whereas the Innovate is programmable. . Open questions: Do you need to consider the refresh rate of the gauge/sensor anymore ? Life of the sensor ? - Do people consider this when using race fuel OR just topping up etc...? Can you get hold of spare sensors ? Do you want the range to go below 11:1 ? Do you want data logging ? Can you programme it ?
chilli
I'd want one that: 1: Could interface to an aftermarket engine management system (data out) 2: Had a reasonable sensor life when used with regular fuel 3: Used fairly standard, common sensors that are readily available and can be purchased separately without mortgaging the house and maybe had a programmable alarm to warn when it's dangerous, guess an emu can be programmed to do this if the two are connected? as long as the refresh wasn't ridiculously slow I wouldn't care so much about this. afr of 11:1, thats very rich isn't it, is it useful to have one that can go below this? do most of the brand names mention cover these features?
