Anyone know how to remove ALL the songs on a Mini iPod so I can start from scratch with my playlists?

Mines full of junk and duplicated songs.

I've reorganised my playists in iTunes and removed 1G of music (5 G on) but my 6G iPod says I have no memory left to update the files.

:thumbdown

any ideas!

can you not access an IPOD like a hard drive and simply delete all the folders etc? The dirt cheap MP3 player I got plugs in via USB and I just copy in the MP3 files like its a memory stick and then it can play them. I also plug it in to my citroen via its jack-in port.

If you check in the manual there is a hard reset proceedure to format the disc
Of course! Why didn't anyone else think of that?

I did a search for "hard reset ipod mini", here you go :

Manual reset

Instructions for resetting the iPod mini (from Apple) are as follows:

  • Connect iPod mini to the iPod Power Adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.
  • Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to hold, then turn it off again.)
  • Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 seconds.

Attach it to another PC with no music on it, and a different one to the one you normally use, it will then remove all of the music on it, as I found out just the other day :( It must have Itunes on the other PC though.

My girlfriend found that out when she formatted her laptop. She wasn't best pleased!

As a side note, I really really hate iTunes! Nothing is simple in the stupid program.

Quickest and most simple way to clear your ipod.......

Plug in in to your pc. Once the ipod has mounted on itunes, highlight your ipods name in the left hand column.

It will then display all the songs stored on your ipod.

Highlight the first song and then go to the very last track in the list. Hold down the shift key and then highlight the last track. All the songs should be highlighted now. Then simply press backspace/delete and it will then delete all the song and blank the ipod......

HTH

Ps I work for APPLE!!!!!

Not quite right my friend.......

You can sync an ipod with only one computer at a time. Hence when you plug it in to another Pc it appears to wipe it.......because its trying to sync with that new computer.......:zen:
