My mum has a sandwich shop down in Brighton and its right on the sea front, but the trouble is its the wrong end of the sea front and she struggles to make ends meet. But she works for herself and loves it.

Location is sooo important.

Are you going to be catering for Workers - IE industrial estates or for general public? I for one wished there was a sandwich shop on my industrial estate where I work.

Obviously general health and safety applies.

Have a look at the food standards agency website for some information. Or better still give them a shout to find out what you need to know, and what you need to do.

Also maybe worth contacting HSBC as they are really good for SMEs and have loads of information CLicky

ooo and looking forward to the next meet whereever it may be :D

Dump. Did a six month contract there and I'm not in a hurry to go back....

Not to say it's a bad place for a business if you know your customer base.

im going to be looking at a few places this weekend on this high street.... and possible may head to aylesbury aswell :) ... wish me luck folks... the last business i had a stake in (this was around 8 years ago, and i was only 17!!) turned into a rocket and i was "forced out" even though it was my concept... that same guy now has three establishments ... thats life tho :)

I'm looking to do the same penguin. If you are not going to do hot food, then you will only need A1 classification on the property, which is very easy to attain.

Hot food, you need A3, which means having proper ventilation etc..

Will it be take out only or are you having seating area? if you are having seating, then you will need to provide toilets etc for customers.

Good luck with the venture, hope all goes well for you.
