how_supra
nice one mate. Wycombe based? How exciting. What sort of food, I think you need a licence to sell hot food - but don't quote me on that.
penguin
well, i was looking into a wycombe based business, but the market i'm aiming for is pretty competitive in this area .... so either slough or aylesbury me thinks... and theres no decent locations... not hot food
penguin
food: sandwiches/rolls fresh.... i mean FRESH milkshakes and drinks .... fresh deserts ... and coffee/tea .... basically healthy "fast food".... think it would be a good source of income from those in the "rat race".... ellis
Get your location right as well, so many food places go under because they're in a really shite spot.

how_supra
My mum has a sandwich shop down in Brighton and its right on the sea front, but the trouble is its the wrong end of the sea front and she struggles to make ends meet. But she works for herself and loves it. Location is sooo important. Are you going to be catering for Workers - IE industrial estates or for general public? I for one wished there was a sandwich shop on my industrial estate where I work. Obviously general health and safety applies. Have a look at the food standards agency website for some information. Or better still give them a shout to find out what you need to know, and what you need to do. Also maybe worth contacting HSBC as they are really good for SMEs and have loads of information CLicky ooo and looking forward to the next meet whereever it may be

Nick
that bad? Dump. Did a six month contract there and I'm not in a hurry to go back.... Not to say it's a bad place for a business if you know your customer base.

suprz_rz
I'm looking to do the same penguin. If you are not going to do hot food, then you will only need A1 classification on the property, which is very easy to attain. Hot food, you need A3, which means having proper ventilation etc.. Will it be take out only or are you having seating area? if you are having seating, then you will need to provide toilets etc for customers. Good luck with the venture, hope all goes well for you.
