Coolant Leak- Throttle Body Side

As above, I’ve just noticed a small coolant leak coming from somewhere below the throttle body. Can’t see where from exactly but it’s dripping onto the side of the AC compressor bracket nearest the block. I did a search on the forum but couldn’t find that anyone had had the same issue, so I assume it’s not a common place to leak.

It’ll be a few days before I can start taking things apart to have a look, but in the meantime can anyone who knows the engine suggest what might be leaking or what I should check? It’s a TT pre-VVTI. Thanks in advance.

I had this issue a few weeks ago.

There are two coolant hoses on the throttle.

One goes direct to the head, 2nd to a hardline under the intake.
The 2nd is still available new, the 1st not.

Can be changed in place, just the battery needs to come out.

Bit difficult to reach it, you will lose some skin this way, correct way is to remove the throttle body.

I didn't drain any coolant, capped the hard line when removing the hose, minimal coolant loss.

Hope this helps.

That’s a huge help, thank you. I’m not too familiar with that side of the engine so it’s good to know what to look for, even better to hear I may not need to dismantle too much!

Final question then- does anyone know the part numbers of the hose(s) that may need replacing? Amayama’s diagram of the cooling system isn’t especially clear.

Thanks again.

I've noticed that Toyota like to give you clues on other part diags, so the throttle body (fuel injection) diag tells you exactly which ones from the coolant diagram you need! Ignore the highlighted 'A' ones, unless you want to get clips too (probably not necessary IMO, I think every spring clip I've taken off my car has been perfectly fine and work properly!)
