How-To Mod Aristo & GS300 Box to Fit Supra GTE

Remove Aristo/GS300 prop-flange, cut off tail-shaft protrusion, fit Supra prop-flange. :thumbs:

Put gear selector into position P, open lock tab and remove flange-nut, an air spanner may well be necessary to undo this nut.

 

Wrap a cloth around tail-shaft end to prevent ingress of foreign debris, then cut off protruding centre pin with angle grinder fitted with a 1mm slitting disc.

 

I recommend that you clean the splines inside flange and on tail shaft with brake cleaner and assemble with RTV on the inside of flange splines ONLY. This prevents ATF leaking through/past 20 years old splines.

 

Fit Supra rear flange and torque the nut up to 90 ft-lb.

 

If the transmission has a different breather, swap for Supra version.

 

The Aristo box is now a plug & play fit into Supra.

The A340E Aristo box is the same F box as an A340E J spec Supra, except it has a different F prop-flange and sometimes a different F breather.

 

Same for GS300 A343E, which is same box as U.K. spec Supra.

 

(Note: GS300 box has a size "A" donut flange, which means that a Soarer prop-shaft front-section can be used as an alternative way to achieve a plug & play T.T. Supra fit.)

Despite all of my begging, so far not a single person has yet saved me a Supra transmission prop-flange from a dead box.

 

Maybe one day, someone could explain why Club Members have this fascination to throw their money into a skip? :think:

Aristo has 3.625:1 diff-ratio & T.T. Auto Supra has 3.769:1 diff-ratio.

 

This graduated little difference will be sent to the ECU from no. 2 speed-sensor, resulting with gear-changes happening up-to 100rpm earlier @ WOT. (If I hadn't told you, you would never have noticed!)

 

If you must, the fix is to remove Aristo tail-shaft housing and swap-in the 3.769:1 Supra T.T. drive-gears into no. 2 speed-sensor.

 

These gears are in matching pairs and MUST be kept in matching pairs.

 

 

 

Opposite example; fitting 4.083 N/A gears into 3.769:1 T.T. auto box with N/A ECU transmission control gives 200 rpm higher gear-changes.

Using an angle grinder, cut off centre peg.

Make sure that the 2 shims are between the flange and transmission fit Supra flange, re-tighten nut to 90ftlb and re-lock tab on nut with hammer and punch.

(The Eagle Eyed may notice that the tab on this nut is yet to be locked.)
