David P Posted May 14, 2015 Share Posted May 14, 2015 The mechanical side of Toyota automatic transmissions fall into 2 categories, N/A Supra and Soarer are the weaker variant and Supra T.T. and Aristo are the stronger version. The castings and oilways however are the same which means that the valve-body from each will operate any. For curiosity, reference and to help answer many odd questions, here are pics of the different valve-bodies. Shown below, Supra N/A pre Facelift, (large solenoids). (This is the valve-body required to build a Hybrid) Soarer valve bodies are similar but not same. Could you please edit into your post, titles for each picture of components shown, it's just a blur of part numbers scrolling down past a letterbox. There are 4 x Accumulator Pistons in all of them and the hydraulic interface is the same on many castings. The different valve bodies make the transmission do different things like; 5-speed auto or 4-speed auto with manualised gear-change option. I have never yet worked on a VVTI Tiptronic transmission, only ever seen the one in the pic above.
