mkIIIdiehard Posted November 20, 2018 Share Posted November 20, 2018 hello all, my 94 N/A, if not used every day has a 2-3 second cam rattle on its first start up, the rest of the day she fine, im guessing that its the cam, question 1, are they hydraulic oil fed? question 2, what is the cure and the big one how much for a garage to do the job (just a ball park figure) thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Swampy442 Posted November 20, 2018 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Its not the cam, the engines have hydraulic lifters, or oil filled lifters. The oil drains away once the engines stopped for a while, and you get a little tapping until oil pressure builds up. Its very common and not really detrimental. Could need shimming, could need heavier/fresh oil. Shims are a fairly easy job with the right tools, just time consuming Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
