Crime on the increase??

Is it me or does crime seem to be going up sharply lately....

I live in a fairly decent area...

But in the past month....

1. Car burnt out down the road

2. Motorbike stolen

3. Car abandoned down the road (yes, another one)

4. Car windows smashed and car urinated in (Not one of mine)

Now, I realize going vigilante style is not an option due to the nanny state, but what the hell can be done about this...

I've also noticed on the board there seems to be a lot more crime in general..

our areas the same , kids around 12 to say 16 are going crazy police cant seem to be able to do anything.

there seems to be more gangs these days of boys and girls and i think that could be the cause , as the boys are out the impress the girls ,

typical example , we are having building work done atm , there were rock face blocks outside the house behind my supe , misses shouts to me to go outside , for me to find a gang of kids boys and girls , one boy had a block above his head right by my car , showing off , so i asked him to put it down , he said he was seeing how heavy it was ,

one slip and its through the rear screen , but you cant realy shout at them because theyll be back later on and damage the car anyway , frustrating

Last week there was a american guy on the radio (phone in) who has been working over here for the last couple of years and he made a comment about how the current situation reminded him of new york 20 yerars ago, must agree it is going crazy over here now and nothing seems to be getting done, think its about time the court system had a massive rethink

There was a night last week where T.Blair was online to answer your questions. I asked a questions something along the lines of fearing for the future and what is Labour doing to fight this rise in petty crime. That these people are laughing at us and the police.

Needless to say it didn't get answered.

Yes, we had similar, crime doubled in Aug compared to last month - we had two reported crimes, somebosy smashed a window in a shed on an allotment and somebody nicked the dog bowl outside of the village store.

But the next month it was reported that the bowl was returned, so all is well.

PS. This is for real!

its odd how the types of crime change from area to area...no offence to anyone in Manchester but I simply wouldn't take my car there!

Where I live it tends to be more violent crimes, if you are in a car you are normally safer, using public transport here late at night you are more vulnerable..there is an awful lot of gun related crime and rapes etc..but its low on car break ins, yet you never hear about the violent crime in the local paper..because the local paper has to keep the estate agents happy and are not very good at painting a true picture!

Also a lot of petty crime these days goes unreported!

Touch word I have never had a car broken into EVER..but I am paranoid about where I park and what i leave in the car!

But suffice to say..its a real pain owning anything nice these days like a Supra..because you have to be constantly on your gaurd..and it ruins the pleasuarble aspects of Supra ownership!

The kids are responsible for a huge amount of the trouble. You see them on crime fighter type programs, they know the police are almost powerless and for some of them its all just a big joke! The courts systems are completely out of date but at least that problem was recognised my the government lately.

I agree

The Police have lost their enthusiasm for fighting real crime half the time because they are let down by the Courts..

I had this Leftie friend who got mugged a couple of times, the Police caught this person because he had mugged a women as well and hurt her quite bad in the process..and we discussed it in a pub one night!

This 'middle class' friend was asked to attend an Identity parade.but he refused saying 'oh but I feel sorry for the criminal, and what if I pick the wrong person...also I feel sorry for the criminal because i would like to understand whats driven him to do this and he must of come from such a poor social background'

I replied saying 'well in order for him to be in Custody...he must be almost certainly bang to rights anyhow plus all the other people in the Identity parade are stand ins'

His reply was 'Oh you are such a Tory'

When we left the pub to get into his mates car afterwards...surprise suprise it had been broken into..and this guys Minidisk player, and all his weeks work had been lost too...(Ironic really)

I turned to him and said...'Sorry mate..what were you saying about looking at the social background of criminals and what drives them to do this'

Me: I was brought up in pure poverty, Childrens homes, we had Fcuk all, all I have ever done wrong was jump the barriers on the Tube and I got caught and fined..that was in 1990...there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to steal anything in this country! Poverty is no excuse! :yu:
