T2 MSW
Has anyone actually done the 420g box into a supra? Got any examples of it being done and more specifically any gotchas?? im looking at gearbox options currently and as I already have the 2jz to box converter is seems that's the route to go!? JamieP
Lee said they are very similar in size so should be ok I think. I'm taking the 420g out and going v161 and lee measured up and said gearstick looks to come out in same place. One thing I don't like with the 420g is 1st gear is to short. Feels like youre hardly moving and you have to snatch for 2nd gear. The M3 diff is 3.6 though so would be a little better with a 3.2 supra manual diff. Anyone wants to go this route I have the latest flywheel kit brand new in box. The one with the uprated flywheel. I'm also taking the 420g out of the car in the new year. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182369345082 Edited December 14, 2016 by JamieP (see edit history)
JamieP
One other thing, with the way the adaptor plate bolts on, it's engine out on the M3 to unbolt the gearbox. Might be the same on the supra. Major ball ache and one of the reasons I'm going v161.
