Noz
Anyone bought one off eBay? They all seem to vary around the same sort of price, 120-150. Would this be suitable. Never bought such an item. Thanks!
Dnk
Post a link would be a help, you can't just go on price these days. Have a look on http://www.machinemart.co.uk or http://www.sgs-engineering.com Edited July 31, 2014 by Dnk (see edit history)
Noz
Thanks Dunk, SGS items look the ticket. I'll grab one of those. Thanks mate!
Chris Wilson
You sometimes see secondhand professional garage cranes for sale on Ebay, whilst very heavy they are far better made than the Machine Mart or SGS ones, although the 2 tonne SGS one should be adequate for home usage. Be prepared to roll the front tyres onto thick wooden planks to raise the car, the 2 tonne one looks to have quite tall "legs" and casters. It may not go under low front bumpers or sub frames. Given a choice I prefer screw thread lifting rather than hydraulic. Although slower you get more precision when lowering an engine and a screw Acme thread is less likely to fail than a Chinese hydraulic ram and pump.
