Matt Harwood
It looks like it might be a GZ thing as Steve M has one on his car too... Steve, yes you can see it without taking the seat out. It's about half way under. let me know if you have one. It has a constant 12v, ignition 12v, 'key in the barrel' 0v constant 0v and the aerial turns into a single cable that just stops at the top of the roof pillar Gaz, my 6 speed! - I'm collecting them
Steve W
Just had a look......... there's the 1/2 connectors to the underside of the 'leccy seat, but no box ? Is it laying on the carpet / attached to the seat / UNDER the carpet ? ? FatS.
lovatt
well i have an RZ auto and i have exactly the same box under my drivers seat, on the carpet where it sits is a standard bracket that is actually part of the carpet, it is a little strap with a bit of velcro on each end
Steve W
WELL, if it's ON the carpet, NO, I don't have one... [that's GZ, '93, TT, 7-speaker system, auto', with cruise ?]
Matt Harwood
Well that's thrown my GZ theory out the window I really want to know what it is!
Steve W
Me TOO ! ! 'cos I don't have one It's not just UK's ? ? Alarm ? Tracker ? Rear Screen Heater amplifier thingy ? (like the mkIV escort ?) ? ? ?
Thorin
It's the Flux Capacitor, have you been 88mph in your car yet?
Matt Harwood
If it is, mine's broken! I don't think it's an alarm or a tracking device, definatly not the rear screen amplifer, because it doesn't link to either the stereo or the aerial coaxes.... Guest Martin F
It's the inertial damper control box.

Ian C
Have you tried unplugging it and seeing what stops working...? My money is on a stereo radio band expander -Ian
Matt Harwood
Definatly not a frequency expander, as it doesn't connect to the radio in any way - And it looks like a standard fitting, mounting strap in the carpet, Toyota style plugs and wiring colours... Nothing stops working when it's unplugged Next
JamesG
I reckon it's some kind of fancy Japanese tracking device. From Matt's homework it's complex enough to need various inputs from the car such as constant 12v and ignition. Maybe some of the other wires are wheel speed to tell if the car is moving. Plus it has an aerial to receive and maybe even send data. Hmmm. It's equally plausible that it's a flux capacitor though James.
swamp
the thing under the seat is it the standard "audio power amp"?
Steve W
They're talking about the DRIVER's seat Swamp. The BIG 'lump' under the PASSENGER seat is the 'AMP' (amp? ) [when you've got one that is !]
Matt Harwood
Close though, he was only one seat out

Rob
That was never proved. The car would only engage first gear, and the passenger door lock was broken, as I told the Judge at the time.
