Guest neo9918
Hi Im currently installing my whifbitz 2.5" decats that I bought from a club member to my j-spec tt. On closer inspection the smaller pipe has a small circular hole drilled into it. Do the pipes come like this from whifbitz or is that an extra? I assume it is there to house the O2 sensor from the original downpipe. Can anyone clarify this? In the longer pipe there is a larger hole that has a thread. Does anyone know if this hole is an addition or is standard from whifbitz. And can anyone guess what it is there for, im guessing an egt sensor. And finally if i am correct on these assumptions, what is the best way of connecting the O2 sensor to the smaller hole and what is the best way to plug up the larger hole? Thanks Mark
Robzki
I would assume that the small hole in the 1st decat is for an egt probe, the larger one in the second decat would be for an afr sensor. But it may be for an extra sensor on the newer ones(which mine isn't) but I have those 2 holes as an extra
Chris Wilson
The second de cat pipe has an optional sensor adaptor to take the second O2 sensor on UK spec cars, or, with one of my adaptors and gaskets, can be blanked off or used for a screw in type wide band O2 sensor. The stock temp sensor probe on the first cat is secured with two 5mm bolts either side of the central hole. I have not seen a first de cat pipe with this facility from Paul, but that's not to say he doesn't sell them.
