Blimy never knew it was expensive !!

Tis expensive because it performs much better than rockwool for the same thickness, or you can match say 100mm of rockwool with 40mm of Celotex.

Is your pond dead flat and square then?

Its a rigid board, not like rockwool quilts. I can't help thinking a bag of sand would be a lot, lot cheaper.

(a bag of sand, meaning an actual bag of sand, not a thousand pounds)

A THOUSAND POUNDS??? OUTRAGEOUS

..wouldn't a tree route get through celotex, or a derivative though? It's not very resistant to penetration..if you walk on it in boots you leave foot prints...

Not that i have a better suggestion..other than maybe a concrete skin, under a butyl one...though, when i was a lad we used to have a pond that was just concrete lined.

Depends how close the tree is, if a root can bust though an old stone sewer pipe a pond liner should not prove too difficult :(

Tree routes get though concrete so cant see that stopping them, cut the tree down or move the pond

trees not in my garden!!!

cant move the pond its too bloody big 5.5 x 4.5 m

the celotex is only being put under the liner to give it a smooth bottom and sides to allow the waste to run clearly to the bottom drain,

im not going to concrete it because of the cost i live in rented accom and when my landlord passes on im sure we will be evicted so the son can rent this out for twice what we pay, that could be 6 months time or 5 yrs hes in his 80s already,

so the rebuilt pond will have to be removed and filled in when we leave,so im looking for a cheap fix in the meantime

lol..yeah i know that...its a tad more resilient than celotex though

Ah..that's fair play then Alfi...go for it..but check out the different makes then..if jabalite is cheaper for the same effect etc etc..why not :)
