wheel alignment help

Recommended Posts

I have just taken my car in for an mot , and told them about some handling issues i have with it , mainly an unstable rear end , weaving on motorway etc, i bought 2 upper control arms from ebay that look almost new, cost me about £100, the problem is that he cant find anything wrong with the old ones :( and everything seems fine at the rear, so i asked about wheel alignment and he said that the rears are not adjustable is that true ??? .....thanks.....mark

Have you had the subframe bolts tightend up? or also you could have the geo set up

Quite alot IIRC :D

Im sure other members will be along shortly to describe the differences, not having done it myself "yet" , so cant tell ya.

A full geo set up isnt that expensive and is supposed to transform the feel of the car completely. hence why im looking forward to getting mine done.

The rears are adjustable on 2 of the lower arms, they both have eccentric adjusters in them and one does the camber and the other does to track or toe as its refered to.

I assume you've done the obvious and checked the tyre pressures

Revolution was just over £100 (£105 or something).

Excellent facility too - their alignment software displays everything up on a LCD monitor in the waiting area so you can watch them getting the settings as they go. Plenty of option to have them set it up how you want it too - eg. dial in a bit of toe-in etc. Just wanted mine set back to manufacturers spec though. Just about every setting started out at outside of the manufactures tolerances!

Got a print out of all the various settings to take away.

Very, very pleased with the results - trip home was like I was driving someone else's car!

Think it took nearly 2hrs to complete.
