Washer jet upgrade

Fitted my Lexus upgrade washer jets today, as per Michael's instructions although I had problems sliding a piece of plastic underneath at first so I used ... dental floss (tape)! - this helped to lift it a bit.

The pre-painted silver colour is not quite same as mine (1C0 rather than 1B9) but you really can't tell.

In use, they work just fine although (as stated elsewhere) they squirt a bit low. I don't think this is a problem with the jets themselves but more likely to do with the pump - I bet Lexus pumps have a bit more pressure and this would also help 'atomise' the washer fluid. Any ideas how I can up the voltage on my washer pump?

Thanks for posting the results, this is very helpful.

Could someone post up a video of these in action? ( installed on a supra of course :innocent:)

So we can see how low is low :)

:yeahthat:

Well, I can't show you a video but I did give them a good test today (one of those day's when it seems impossible to keep the windscreen clear).

From stationary up to speeds of 30 mph, the washer fluid hits the screen just below eye-line, about 1/3 of the way up the screen. This sounds a bit low but is actually OK as it means you're not 'blinded' before the wipers do their work. The width of the combined spray is just right - side-to-side, covers the whole windscreen.

At motorway speeds, the point at which the spray hits the windscreen actually drops (I thought it might go up) to just above the windscreen wipers. This doesn't seem to matter as the wind or wipers (on the up-stroke) lift the fluid.

In short, I don't think they are working as intended - this is definitely a spray where I think it should be more of a mist (pump pressure too low I reckon) - but, in fact they still do a much better job of wetting the windscreen than the old ones.

Hope that helps.
