SteveR
Hi Ray The TRD rad cap wll allow the coolant system to run 0.2 bar higher then stock (1.3bar Vs 1.1), which many people believe will shorten the life of the heater matrix, rad, etc (I'm convinced enough after both blew on my Supra - at that point I gave my TRD rad cap away). I suspect enough people fear the same, so will need convincing before parting with pennies. Not trying to stop your GB, just help!
Terminator
Not sure it would shorten the life of a health system. But in a 14 year old system, I would want to be certain that every thing was 100%, because if it is not, the extra pressure will soon find a way to escape. The heater matrix on my year 2000 Supra went before I bought it, and the rad just after. I don't think age helps, but it's not a cast iron indicator of coolant system health. Dnk
I'd heard something like this, why do they up the cap pressure as im not sure i can see a reason to do it. I have a new rad and heater matrix in my car and a lot of the pipework has been replaced but some of the pipework is circa 1994 which does put me off buying the Trd rad cap. 15.95 psi - 18.
