hodge
Just looked at the pic and I don't think it's anything major easy fix IMO. Edited November 8, 2009 by hodge (see edit history)
Dnk
Pretty simple fix with the right equipment, looks like theres enough material around the hole so easy peasy
jevansio
So this is a simple fix that I can do? I already have some M11-M10 studs that I bought from Fensport, that hole had an M10 stud in, does that mean I should try an M11x1.25 Helicoil? hodge
Tr running a tap down the hole the same size as the thread that was in it. Clean the hole out and helicoil it to the same size it was previously. Failing this it will need drilling and tapping to a larger diamiter thread such as M12. Dnk
I personally would take the head off and do the work on a bridgeport milling machine to get it perfect, tapping by hand and or with the head still on the engine isnt the best way in my opinion. I would even look into making a one off insert to screw into the head, if helicoiling has already failed it will possibly fail again. hodge
If a helicoil isn't done correctly ofcourse it's gona fail. And with the track record of the company who helicoiled it, it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest. If you struggle jay his a bell and I'll do it on the car for ya. paul mac
just a thought Jay but you are using a torque wrench as its surprising how low the torque is on the exhaust and intake
jevansio
I'm not bud, this is the first time I've done this job, and the nut in question took next to no torque before it pulled out. I was just gonna put them on until the felt right, its impossible getting a wrench on the bottom ones. This time I might torque the top ones and just do the underside ones until the feel the same
