Tee from China
It seems everyone wants a manual TT but then I read that the Getrag box is not that smooth albeit strong so has anyone gone and ripped out the clunky 6 speed and dropped a nice smooth A340e box instead? seems all the racers (in the US of A) prefer an auto although not a standard box. merckx
I'm not sure what you mean by "not smooth" ? It's an excellent gearbox to use, you only get a little clonking when moving very slowly when you're using the clutch.

kslb
Get a v161 slightly better in the lower gears.
The Raven
The getrag box has been called "notchy and heavy" However anyone removing one to fit an auto box needs shooting
mplavery
i LOVE my 6 speed box, i hate autos, makes its more fun to drive IMO. It is a tiny bit notchy but in no way making me want to change to a auto box...IMO If people are saying its to notchy there jsut being too fussy. MR2's now thats a notchy gear box lol

pistonbroke
Maybe if Iwas still using my supe everyday, id consider the auto, but i wouldn't retro fit my 6sp to an auto. I'd have bought an auto to start with and saved some money
