At a guess I'd say try and heat weld it (if you can) If not then use a small alloy plate pop riveted to the back of the crack for strengh, then use a good filler to smooth the crack out, make sure you V the crack open to let the filler bind and make a good repair. I took on quite a big task with the MR2, with a little help, and it all came out great. If i didn't have someone showing me the basics it would have been a disaster. Make sure, if you are using filler, to re-inforce the split, as per supraloopy's suggestion. This is absolutely vital if you don't want it to crack after the first mile.
