Getrag
Re-train. What do you want to do, what are your passions and hobbies in life? Do you have family or are you single and can make going back to college/university easier.
Big Mark
At least you have a job. I've been job hunting since October after property developing came it to a sudden halt. My problem seems to be not knowing what I really want to do, having qualifications but no experience in some areas (engineering degree and Catia V5) and having experience but no qualifications in other areas (property developer for years doing all the work myself). Really trying to use my qualifications as I spent all that money on them but no one is hiring without experience, which you can't get without the job, it's a viscous circle. Even tried saying I'll come in at a reduced salary just to get my foot in the door but nothing. Suppose it would mean less commission for the recruiter. Scraping by doing odds and sods for people (kitchen fitting, a bit of plumbing and electrics, tiling etc etc) while I try and find a career direction. Hope it all works out for you mate, I feel my life is just ticking by.

Would you relocate, can you use other CAD, what do you call entry level salary (or day rate), Do you have access to software for subby work. Speak to us. Tell us what you have to offer. There are quite a few engineering bods on here like me who could often use a spare pair of hands. PM me if you want to be confidential.

Max Headroom
Have you thought about residential childcare, I went in with no qualifications at 47 years old, gained my NVQ3 in Health and Social Care and I am earning 17-18K which is fine for my needs. I've been trying to get out of this town for years so would be happy to relocate for the right job and am in the position to move almost straight away. I'm not looking for a huge salary, just need enough to pay my minimal bills and afford to live. It's the experience that is more important to me right now as that is what is holding me back. I used AutoCAD many year ago but Catia is what I'd like to get into as I paid to do the course only last October so it's still pretty fresh in my mind, I've got Catia V5 R16 on my pc at home so was practicing at home each day after the course, something that I will be getting back into next week. My plan at the time was to work for a company or 6-12 months on any salary, get the experience and then look to go contracting or a higher paid position. Hopefully I'll then be able to afford to get a Supra again, my miss my old car!
Carl_S
Maybe a bit of exicitement and challenges? Work with children, or with animals, or study to be something you always wanted to be, and keep your current job for now. Failing that, do door work. Or apply to be a policeman.
