JamieP
Gaz, your car a 6 speed and you're trying a auto diff to see if it will get you a better time over the 1/4? i reckon it will be slower as you will need an extra gear change.
GazB
Problem i'm having is in 4th i'm flat out hitting rev limiter at just before finish line, if i change to 5th the time lost outways the gain I'm trying some 15" wheels as well as differnt diff ratio to see if times can be improved without raising rev limiter or different cams. I've run various set up through simulator with various results, so testing looks best way to see. It's not too much hassle to shop diff over when in pit area if needed
JamieP
I was doing the same thing at Suprapod, are you running stock rev limit? im wondering if you raised it a couple of hundred rpm it would stop the need for the extra change?
GazB
Jamie My rev limits been raised by 500 Topped out at 126mph regularly throughout the year in 4th so i don't think my driving will make any difference, so it's got to be changed mechanically. Traction (60ft) times make the ET difference which is also what we are looking at. I’m hoping the diff and drive shaft can hold when launching with gripper tires etc. I don’t want to go with a built engine yet (until mine blows) plus the 10k spend on a built engine goes a long way at the moment doing traction work and safety work on the car, new roll bar, seats, harnesses etc to run in HKS series. As you know there’s a lot to try, plenty of things to break and this is what makes it enjoyable doing the mods If it was easy everybody would do it
Terminator
With a 8750 RPM limit the six speed box through and auto diff, make the acceleration impressive. I don't think 500 rpm is enough to get any benefit from the auto diff ratios.
