Sky Box IR remote extension thingy...

I have no idea what to properly call the thing, but the situation is that i want to hide away my Sky+ box in a cupboard under the tv.

So I need some sort of external IR remote sensor. I've only ever seen 1 person have one, it looked like a little black mouse!

Has anyone got any idea where I can get such a thing, as a search on the usual places, Maplins, egay and amazon arnt proving successful. All I ever find is an extension cable that allows me to connect the sky box to a 2nd tv.

Cheers :)

Speak with Mike or Bernard, say your a friend of Jamie's and he will sort you out, have my sky box under the stairs that sends it to all the rooms and just a very discrete sensor stuck to the bottom of the tv that changes the channel with the sky remote.

Looks different to mine, are they not the things so you can watch one channel on another tv? or will it let you hide the sky box away and watch whatever channel you want on the tv its plugged into?

It's usually used so you can watch Sky on another TV like in the bedroom upstairs and being able to change the channel without going to the sky box downstairs, i used to have one and it works fine

Well if you can use it to change the channel on another telly then you can use it to change the channel on the main telly regardless of it being actually plugged into the other telly.

:yeahthat::senile:

I have one. Got it off ebay for a few quid.

Magic Eyes are great, but you can have problems. You need to make sure that your Sky box RF Output is switched on - think that's in the services hidden menu.

Also your cable and connections have to be able to carry power as this is what is used to power the magic eye, if they aren't wired properly to carry the power, it wont work and trust me I spent ages trying to get the thing working the first time to the point of driving me insane :)

All you need is a Sky Eye should be about a 5er ish.

You plug the sky eye into RF2 on the back of your sky box that’s the one with the power output.

Then you need to turn on the power to it by going to "Services" "4" then press 0 1 Select then down to RF outputs

RF 68 and power on then select save done :D if you can’t get a Sky Eye let me know I have loads you can have one.

Hope this helps
