Dazzi
Has it got and silencer box's on it that you can see or does it look like straight through piping?
supra_si
take a pic of the underside of your car and we will happily tell you
Homer
IIRC the kakimoto was available as just a back box replacement and as a full cat back. It's a nice sounding exhuast. As already mentioned, a pic of the underside will confirm what you have.

I ask im going BPU soon and need to understand what i currently have I *think* Kakimoto only ever made cat back exhausts for the Supra. Should be easy to tell if you look under the car, the stock exhaust splits in the middle, the Kakimoto exhausts are a single pipe. rick001
Brilliant nic, thats my exhaust all right - so i take it that it IS a cat back then? Actually, it does have a number on a spot welded plate which i will get later and post up
Nic
Brilliant nic, thats my exhaust all right - so i take it that it IS a cat back then? The Supra exhaust consists of the 1st catalytic convertor (nearest engine), 2nd catalytic convertor, mid pipe and rear back box. The term 'cat back', just describes everything from the catalytic convertor backwards ie. mid pipe and rear back box. The pictures I posted all show cat back exhausts. rick001
Thanks nic - on a separate note, when i had a look at the rear of the exhaust i found what looked like wire wool coming out - is this the baffle material and means its dying?? Thanks for your help nic rick

rick001
Yes the wire wool will be from the silencer box. Is this normal during its life nic or should i be looking to replace?
Chris Wilson
It's not normal, the baffles that hold the stuffing in have broken or corroded away. Time to ask Nic for a new exhaust.
