China Man
Hi, I am in the process of buying my dream home. Although the country's economic is going down hill but I personally think this is the best time to buy a home for living not investing short term. How is this difficult time going to affect builders? I am looking to buy a 3 bedroom house in Kent and most likely need a double story extension. Is it going to be cheaper then lets say a year ago or it is going to be more expensive because of fuel rise and material cost increases? hoff
Costs will be higher at the moment but a lot of builders on the housing side are very quiet. You will certainly be able to get someone in to do the work when you need them. Though having we, I work for an architect, are seeing more extension work than new build but this is still quiet due to people having to tighten the purse strings. I would also suggest that the quotes you will recieve will be competitive in order to secure contract.

The Raven
Where in Kent? If its local i might be able to point you in the right direction. As for being cheaper, everyone of the builders i know is charging more than ever and still working in this area.

JamieP
My prices have not changed and tbh ive not noticed any difference yet in the amount of work coming in. There has not been an increase in building material costs that ive seen.
