marc_p
As if being big boned or having water retention wasn't enough excuses for the obese, but those people who are just too lazy have yet another excuse. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7649261.stm Also note the fact that it was US researchers, the country that is too fat for words. michael
I don't fully understand what they are getting at here to be honest. They have identified that a poor diet triggers something that makes the body want more food which in turn leads to obesity... they want to design a drug to stop this happening. Why? So people can carry on eating bad food without it making them more hungry? Surely the solution here is to take the bad food away... then there is no need for the magical tablet. The drug would be dodgy anyway, the whole reason the body demands more food is because it's not getting the right nutrients, lots of crap food has the same nutrients as a small amount of good food. If people inhibited the hunger after eating crap food they'd just get really ill instead - they'd be thin and dying!!
Ian R
For years I was slim but I have put a fair bit of wait on over the last 2 years. Nothing to do with genes blah blah blah. Simply I have been greedy and eaten too much. Oh and a few too many guiness. I have decided to loose some weight next month and have decided to follow some remarkable scientific research. I am going to go to the gym and eat less. People are fat because they eat too much end of.

Sounds like a good solution then (so long as we don't put them up on the NHS)

So people can carry on eating bad food without it making them more hungry? Surely the solution here is to take the bad food away... then there is no need for the magical tablet. The problem with this, is that it is not treating the actual problem. We have such a bad habit of treating the symptoms and not the root cause. People eat more, because they eat S**T food, thereby eating more calories and gaining weight. Simple solution, STOP EATING THE S**T FOOD!!! However that would then put so many companies like McDonalds, Burger King, cadburys, etc, etc out of business that the fragile economy would die a horrible death! The drug would be dodgy anyway, the whole reason the body demands more food is because it's not getting the right nutrients, lots of crap food has the same nutrients as a small amount of good food. If people inhibited the hunger after eating crap food they'd just get really ill instead - they'd be thin and dying!! Due to health and safety reasons, because 1 person out of 10 million suffered a runny nose, the drug will no longer be produced.
Tannhauser
For years I was slim but I have put a fair bit of wait on over the last 2 years. Nothing to do with genes blah blah blah. With respect, that's not true. If you had a different genetic profile, you might have put on four times as much on the same diet, or perhaps not gained anything at all. Genetics plays a role in gaining fat, end of .
