how_supra
My battery is on it's way out. In order to change it, I need to change the battery connectors / terminal thingeys (as I've learnt today) Does anyone have, or know where I might get these from Thanks
Branners
why do you need to change the connectors? I have never heard that before? No matter which battery you have there is a replacement available. From the smallest motorbike sized one up to the UK spec one. JB
how_supra
Because the ones i have on my car, don't fit the battery which is supposed to be for the Supra - if that's the case - that is excellent news
Branners
whatever battery came out can be replaced with one very similar if not the same. The smaller batteries have smaller terminal clamps. Did you check at Halfords or similar? I think they list a few for the mkiv. Is yours a really small battery?
how_supra
I went to Kwik fit first just to check whether it was the battery, or loose connectors or the alternator Then he tried to fit a battery which is meant to be for the Supra (HCB005?) and the connectors didn't fit Then I went to halfords and they only listed the HCB005 battery and the connectors were too big It's not the biggest battery in the world no to be fair You've just cheered me up Thank you
Branners
the HCB005 is for the UK spec and supras with the big terminal connectors. I 'think' I used an MR2 one on my import many moons ago. But it was a while back so I forget. There is defo one that will fit, perhaps check the MR2 one or do a search on here and see if I ever discussed in. It would have been around 5 years ago... Robzki
Previous owner put a new batt on mine( halfords), clamps don't tighten down enough, I was looking at new clamps too as I imagine they'd be cheaper than a new battery. its on my(very long) to do list
SteveR
I recently changed my battery to a UK spec one, and have bought some cable and some insulated butt connectors from here so I just chopped the crimped connectors off and attached the wires to the new ones on a bit of extra wire so they reach without being stretched. Took me about an hour all-in.
