wkdtime
yeah, i think the boost issue was just all in the head, i.e, the car came with a gauge, and i was just staring at this gauge expectng to see what i read around this site, wheras if i dont pat attention to the gauge, the car drives superb and feels rapid, when the second turbo comes online i can feel it only in the higher gears, otherwise i can really notice it. so to date the only problem at the moment is to checl out this oil leak i have. just out of curiosity, how should i be checking the oil levels, should i do it 1st thing in the morning, start the car let it run for 3 mins and then check level, or wait till the car has warmed up and then check? cheers for all the help guys! Terminator
Cold on level ground is best or leave the oil to drain back into the sump if hot.
Scooter
Cold on level ground is best or leave the oil to drain back into the sump if hot. yeah, if you are using it everyday i'd just check it first thing in the morning. Have you had a look around/underneath it re the oil leak?
wkdtime
yeah, i left some newspapers under the car, could not see any leaks what so ever this time, i have tightened the pipe leading from the engine to the intercooler, which was very loose, so i should check the oil when the car is cold and should not run the engine at all? is this correct? Nic
....i have tightened the pipe leading from the engine to the intercooler, which was very loose... If it was very lose then this could answer your question about the boost, if it was leaking. Have you noticed any diference on the boost gauge since tightening the pipe? wkdtime
not really i havent, but when the car is turned off the boost gauge does not sit bang on 0.0 it sits about -0.9 i think thats right. (gauge is electric, looks old greddy) just checked the oil, car is cold, did not start the car, checked the dip stick, the level is about 2-3mm above the max line? is this too much, i think i have over filled it, as i always checked the level just after running the car for 10-15 mins then switching the car off, and then checking the level. Scooter
Firstly don't panic, above the max is not good but this 2-3mm is the maximum its been recently yes? ie you just slightly overfilled it the other day? If so (and it is only 2-3mm over) then i just wouldn't thrash it for a while, if the car has still got a leak, then as you are now checking it regularly and correctly, you will see it drop accordingly. Best thing imo would be to jack it up, get the engine undertray off and try and find out the source of the leak, if there is now one.
