flyby
Hi I really dont understand why it that difficult to fine some OEM skirts, and get them shiped to denmark. Now im willing to leave it whit fiberglass. But all the ebay shop do not ship to denmark. Some here on the forum, has used parcelforce to ship to europe (£65) but all other wont ship to denmark. razza
True OEM ones are rare to find as no-one makes them, I think Nic can get some if there's any left but they're very pricey, around £900 or something I think as they only come in the set with the spats as well. They will have to be packaged very well as they are prone to breaking in transit, even more so if fibreglass....

bolarbag
Are they genuine oem sideskirts or are you saying their plastic copies? How much, obviously its 'Flyby's thread so he gets first dibbs! I had a set and sold them like a right twat, the riddox ones just dont flow with the car so need another set of oem sideskirts again:(
imi
why do you care whether they are genuine or copies, if the fit is good (which the ones supplied by traders are supposed to be) and they look exactly the same......the common sense thing would be to save on money and not fall for the same trap that others do. Because fibreglass cracks at every opportunity, oem sideskirts are made from polyeurethene, or something similar, they dont crack as easily - using these instead of the replicas would be good preventative measure while driving around a track

If the car is for track driving, then losing weight is probably a better investment...
bolarbag
Were talking grams here and in an area where weight loss doesnt really gain an advantage;) No I'm meaning fibreglass cracks at a stone chip, of which there are many on the roads up here:rolleyes:
UltraFlynn
My old car had Veilside fibreglass skirts on and they were cracked and spiderwebbed like crazy. Never went near a track or drove particularly quickly. I'd only consider OEM skirts and spats.

bolarbag
Well I have a Fibreglass nose cone, and as mentioned, spiderwebs and cracks at a few stone chips - I'm sure a fly caused the paint to crack on one high speed run:d Have you tracked your car, or attended any speedways? nikbiomed
An observation I have with the OEM and Fiberglass copies (and this is because I have fitted a lot of them over the past) is that the OEMs have fixings all over and make for a good secure fit and will not fly off on high speed runs if taking it up the track. (yes I know someone is going to reply and say that they should be OK for normal everyday driving, so thought I would get it in first) Now I cannot speak for all Fiberglass mftrs here cos I have only used one or two but the copies DO NOT have the quality of fixing the OEM do and this alone puts me off purchasing copies. Also their is a heck of a lot more work to fit nicely and paint properly. So you pays your money and takes your chance.

flyby
I bought a set of oem copy side skirts from a trader on here and they were rubbish can you describe why?
miko_supra
Well firstly one side didnt come up flush on the front wing...It was too thin around the vent area of the skirt so it sat inset to the rest of the body meaning it required fibreglassing and filling to build it up. It obviously didnt have the stock brackets and fixings to put it on, but it also didnt have any tabs made up to screw it into the body work like aftermarket skirts so i had to make up brackets. There was also barely enough material to slide over the inner door sill which meant that the screws were put in very close to the edge meaning it is more prone to cracking. For £300 i was a little unimpressed
